I love my big thick taupe hand knitted muffler/cowl around my neck with any fitted long jacket. Warm and cuddly! Also, wooly socks sticking up over your tall boots.

Layering is it - keeps me warm, and I always rotate in a new shrug, henley, leggings, tights etc and make it a whole new outfit!

For winter, I like to hid my warm, fuzzy, uncool looking socks in my boots. Also, long sleeves are key! Even if you're wearing a jacket or cardigan, the cold still gets through to you if you're not wearing long sleeves. Normally, though, the cuter tops are short sleeve so accessories go along way in winter. Also, a scarf, infinity scarf, or snood in a warm fabric such as fur or cashmere. The neck is super vulnerable unless you're wearing a turtleneck; and I find turtlenecks hideous most of the time.

My staple winter outfit is a warm, neutral colored cardigan (either black, grey, or navy blue), dark wash skinny jeans, a wool belted trench coat, and leather riding boots. Top it off with a cute scarf and a chic bag, and I'm looking classy AND warm. :)

I'm from up-upstate new york (right on lake Ontario!), so I'm used to freezing cold weather. My secret is to wear tight, long sleeve waffle knit shirts (in neutral colors) with a vest or t-shirt over it and then wear something to femme it up (long earings with thigh high boots, for example).
