What's the Longest You've Gone Without Getting a Haircut?

What in the world is Gwyneth Paltrow's secret to long locks? I've been trying to grow my hair out for years, and have even waited as long as five months between haircuts to avoid trims. But every time I take a vacation from my hair stylist, he always tells me that the ends are dead and that for hair to grow you need a good cut every six to eight weeks. I don't know how Gwyneth got her hair so long (supplements perhaps? ) but I'd love to find out. How long have you gone without getting a haircut?

I go about 6-8 months. I've been letting my hair grow for about 1.5 yrs now.

i only get my hair cut once a year. By then it's down to my butt so i get about 5 or 6 inches chopped off.

6 months... but only because the time prior to that they cut my layers waaaay too short, shortest was the top of my ear?? which was a big no-no for my curly head!, and not what i asked for at all! So I was terrified to have that happen again! Apparently the guy didnt take note when I said my hair was naturally curly.. and layers well.. they shorten up a bit with that! :(

It's usually two-three years between cuts for me. I always donate to Locks of Love. This past August was my third donation.

Two years is the longest I've gone. I've never put chemicals in my hair other than shampoo, conditioner, and a little hairspray every now and again, and when you're born with perfect hair salons are not something you think about very much. After a couple of years the split ends were getting to me, so I got a trim and some layers put in. I love my layers and I love the salon where I got them, but I still don't see the need to go more than once every 6 months or so.

Until 2-3 years ago I had really long hair, about 1m long (and I'm 1.50m hehe!). I'd also never been to the hairdresser because all I needed was trimming and my mum always did a perfect job at this. Even now, my hair's shorter but I usually go to the hairdresser every 4 months; I have curly hair so unless I straighten it, you don't notice it's grown. Guess it depends on your hair, I'm lucky than mine doesn't get really damaged and can grow really long without looking thinner at the end.

When I was in high school my hair was down to my butt and I didn't get it cut for almost 3 years!!!! That was in the 70's and I was a little bit of a bohemian!!!!

I actually just got a haircut today but it's been a really long time. I'm scared whenever I go to the salon, they always mess it up. I'm in cosmetology school and a girl in my class cut it today and it's amazing.

In college I discovered an amazing stylist by accident (taking a friend to her appointment, because she didn't have a car) and became hooked. Thing is, he was expensive, I had never been to a salon like that before and was shocked when I got the bill at the end, haha. But he did such an amazing job, even as it was growing out it seemed to get better, that I kept going back to him. But as I was a college student, I could only afford to go once a year, and I would even save up to do it. In the meantime I would use special products for preventing split ends (garnier has a nice one) and I've never been one to use a straightener and I always let my hair air dry. Now that I've left California I'm a little sad but a little less poor, haha.

Seriously, Bella, DUMP YOUR STYLIST. Hair is ALREADY dead. It's waste material excreted by your scalp. There is no such thing as a dead end. That's biology. The only thing that trimming your hair does is make it SHORTER. Get an honest stylist, not one who's trying to get you in (and get your money!) as often as possible.

i ususally cut myu hair once a year - but I make a drastic cut and then refuse to cut it again until it grows back... i am funny that way. I just cut 8 inches off my hair and i can barely put it into a pony tail - what was i thinking?!? oh well, I'll try again next year lol

My last cut was about 9 months ago. It's getting pretty long, but I'm planning on going in for a trim in a couple of weeks. I can only hope the "trim" doesn't take off more than I plan... it always seems to get out of hand once I'm actually in the chair. -_-**
