When I was younger, I admired businesswoman Angela Bower on Who's the Boss?, aka "Yo Angeler" by her loving housekeeper, Tony Micelli. On the show, Angela was a successful advertising executive who preferred full-shouldered power suits, and almost always accessorized with oversize power earrings.
In a slick move, which I adored, Angela would promptly remove one of the earrings, and toss her feathered hairstyle back before picking up the phone. I'm sure the motion was done as to not interfere with her conversation, but it also probably helped keep that 1980s 'do in place, too. I noticed Betty Draper do this on an episode of Mad Men too!
1This isn't really a beauty move but my husband tells me whenever I'm trying really hard to do something I bite my lower lip. I consistently tuck my hair behind my ears when I'm nervous. And when I'm happy about something, I make this really quiet "hmmm" sound that I didn't know I made until my husband pointed it out.
2I run my fingers through the bottom of my hair. It looks like I'm playing with my hair, but I'm not. Now that my hair is long, the ends can get tangled, which is my pet peeve. I run my fingers through it to de-tangle the ends.
3I've been told I mirror the people I'm with- so if I'm with someone who has a distinctive tic, I pick it up, too. Kind of an odd thing...
4My hair often irritates my neck when it is longer so I frequently push it back and away from my neck.
As for the earring thing, wasn't it done so the earring wouldn't hurt her ear when the phone was against it? Works better with clip-ons of course!
5I always paint my left pinky a different color from the rest.
6I always bite my bottom lip and cross my legs. I also have a wierd oral fixation so that when I am chewing gum or a piece of plastic or something (I know; gross bad habit); it is really hard for me to stop, even if say the flavor runs out. It's kind of disturbing haha...
7when i put on lip balm i put it on about 20 times on the bottom lip and once on the top lip. HAHA!

9I'm with mill90. I put so much lip balm on my bottom lip, and one coat on the top. I do it with other lip products too.
10I also remove my earring before answering the phone, mostly cause I wear big earrings and don't like them clacking on the screen.
I always carry bobby pins for when my fringe is bugging me.
