When Someone Copies Your Look, How Do You Feel?

Before Evan Rachel Wood started dating Marilyn Manson, she favored soft, pretty makeup and hair. Since coupling up with Marilyn, though, she's gone for a retro glam look nearly identical to that of his ex-wife, burlesque star Dita Von Teese. How do you feel when people mimic your hair and makeup? Flattered, upset, neutral? Or something else completely?

Dita is fabulous. The retro look is wonderful and feels like home to me. My huge girl crush right now is Dita. Who wouldn't want to copy her? BUT Dita is just so much better at being Dita. I understand Wood not wanting to be a bland little ordinary blonde anymore(acting chops aside.) But Dita's look just doesn't work on her. There is just something so weird and pathetic about it.

People are seriously kidding themselves if they think their look is "original". Almost anything worth doing has been done before.Don't hate. It causes wrinkles!

This specific situation is kinda weird BUT in general I see nothing wrong with people taking beauty ideas and looks from other people. Seeing some fabulous makeup, hairstyle, or accessory on someone else can be very inspiring. And really, let's be honest. It's all been done. You can try to be original but I think a more realistic goal is individual.

It depends. If someone happens to like something I have on and asks me where I got it, I'll tell them. But I have had one or two people in the past who copied everything, and that gets really really annoying.

It's flattering sometimes, but when it's an outright ripoff, it can get a little annoying. My sister does the most annoying thing sometimes. Like, if I bought a bag today, she'd go out tomorrow and get the exact same bag. I don't mind sharing but it's like, get your own style once in a while! Lol.

honestly, at first i feel flattered. as they say immitation is the sincerist form of flattery. but after a while, it gets annoying. its just best to be yourself. if u steal somebodies look everyonce in a while, thats ok. just dont make a habit of it.

I would feel flattered but only to a certain extent. After a while it definetly gets annoying. People should always have their own style.

Inspiration is one thing, deliberate copying is another. If some teenager stole my look AND husband I'd be mighty miffed. Plus in these pics I think Evan looks better . . . . so that would also be irritating.

i'm not going to lie: it pisses the hell out of me. they say imitation is the best form of flattery, i say get your own style. i have so many people who go and buy exactly the same things i have (bag/shoes/clothes/hairstyle/makeup) and i don't understand why, well yeah ok so it looks nice but being original is nicer!i have a cousin the same age as i am and they say we look similar( sometimes ppl think we're sisters, which doesn't please me at all for many reasons i won't mention now) and it's like i bump into her at my uncle's or at the mall, and wouldn't you know it, the next time i see her, it's like i bumped into myself.i show her my displeasure,but she seems to be either thick skinned, or she doesn't care. i like to think it's both.

If it's an "inspire" type thing that they genuinly like, then it's cool, but if it's copyign at great lengths to look exactly alike, it get's on my nerves, a lot.Ugh, I really dislike ERW, doe shse think she's the new DVT? Just because she is hookinh up with Marilyn Manson does not mean she has to try and look like Dita. If she dies her hair that would be hilarious. I'm guessing the reason she is getting all Dita-Von-tease-afide is because she wants Marilyn to like her more than DVT, like she's the "new" DVT.

it's annoying.. i had a close friend who began imitating the way i dressed.. it became so bad that one morning (we were both living in a dorm), i was in the bathroom and she walked in with a nearly identical outfit. she even copied my music taste, which i prided on being so unique. she didn't really listen to anything except michelle branch before, but all of a sudden she pretended to like all the bands that i liked. it annoyed the hell out of me.

Krampalicious - you make me laugh :) ("fughole") It annoys the sh*t out of me. My roommate and the friend I spend the most time with started doing this a couple years ago, before we lived together. It sucked because I had this one accessorized look that she liked, which NO ONE else that we hung out with rocked, and when I'd meet up with her and other friends she'd look identical to me, with this distinct fashion quirk. Out of nowhere she had decided it'd be fine to just adopt my look. Plus it drove me crazy if I wasn't rocking it one night and she was and people would compliment her, she'd paying NO credit to me! The nerve!

I don't really care what other people do, but the whole ERW copying Dita thing is just... weird.
