Where Do You Color Your Hair?

After having more than a few disasters at home, I prefer to leave my hair color in the hands of professionals. Even though there are new formulas and options for the DIY route, I can never get the color quite the way I want it. But that seems to be more due to my clumsiness than anything else; some of my friends have beautiful highlights, and you'd never guess that they paint them on themselves. What about you? Do you color your hair at home, or do you head to the salon?

I've never had my hair colored at a salon. I always dye it at home.

I color my hair at home, but honestly don't do anything too crazy, so it's easy.

I only go to the salon because I had too many accidents happen with my friends doing my hair at home over the years.

@ home! I do pink & purple, and I went to the salon ONCE (brought the color with me), it was more than 150$ and they did a worse job than I do, just recently I started cutting my own hair too, which I even surprised myself at how nice it looked! lol

highlights i always go to my girl at the salon. when i feel like going a solid shade of brown- sometimes i let her do it, sometimes i pick up a box myself.. in college i did it all myself cause it was cheaper and i was broke! but i tried highlights once by myself and it was a huge mess so never again

I would never color my hair at home, too scared to mess it up! Leave it to my beloved stylis Karen who does the most unbelievable color.

I've never gotten it colored before, but if I were to color it, it'd probably be like about two shades darker :)

I'm trying to grow out my natural hair color so every four or five weeks I put a no-ammonia no-peroxide color on it to help me transition. I've got about four inches of natural color, the rest is orangey from peroxide, and it comes down past my shoulders... I'm so ready for it to be all natural again!

A professional I know taught me the correct formulation to use on my hair so I buy the professional products at a beauty supply store but do it myself. It always turns out wonderfully. I don't have to worry about hilights or anything because the colour I use never looks too monochrome. I get exactly the look I would want if i were to go to a salon.

I dye it myself, always have. At the moment I'm using a single process dye, but for about a year I was using L'Oreal Couleur Experte which is a dye with matching highlights. People asked all the time where I got my hair done and were surprised to find out I did it myself.

I know it's stupid, but I do it myself at home. I usually do an all-over color, so i feel like i'm less likely to mess it up. If I could afford it, I'd do it at a salon. But really I tend to stick to the same shade, so i'm not a big risk taker, I guess.

I always get my highlights done at the salon! I don't trust myself to do it. I know it would just end badly...

I've always done it at the salon. I don't trust myself (or the people around me) with that kind of power! My hair is precious to me, and I have an amazing stylist who rocks at what she does, so I totally don't mind shelling out money for it.

Used to color at home, but as the number of grey hairs increased, my hair turned brassy. Now I get it colored at the salon and it looks much more natural and healthier.

I do mine at home. Everytime I've used a salon, it's wound up jacked up. I'd rather not pay someone to ruin my hair. blah.

Never colored my Malfoy-blonde hair (and I every time I go to a salon I get asked if the color and texture is natural), never had highlights or lowlights, never put anything in my hair except shampoo, conditioner, and occasionally hairspray. I might have breakouts and wimpy eyelashes, but to make up for it I was born with perfect hair.
