Why Don't Supermodels Brush Their Hair?

I keep seeing pictures of models roaming the streets or attending events with disheveled hair. I can't understand why they don't take the time to brush it when beauty is their trade. I can understand why they go messy after getting primped day after day, and I don't expect anyone to look perfect all of the time. But some models consistently look sloppy. Why do you think this is?

maybe cuz they are used to having other people do it for them that they don't know how to do it themselves....or they jsut need to give it a rest. but are they really working EVERYDAY??

I think laziness is part of it. But also who honestly styles their hair perfectly every day? Especially when your job is to look beyond amazing and photograph beautifully. Id hate to defend models but Im sure its very draining to devote so much energy to look sooo flawless that its almost unreal. And it doesnt help when every moment you spend theyre papz there to snap a pic of you. Of course they are going to be caught with less than perfect hair on there day off. Bah. It doesnt bug me one bit

My bedhead puts theirs to shame! I think it's because their hair is stressed or damaged and the same reason why some people put on hats. It looks like they're stretching out the last styling and don't care what other people think because they're 'trendsetters.' I'm amazed how long they go without washing, esp with the amount of product that ends up in their hair. Doesn't the greasy product-laden hair make their skin break out?

I think they're actual hair is so gross after being damnaged by all that crap their stylists put on it, and they're the only people who know how to cover it. Would you like someone over you 24/7 assaulting you with Tony&Guy? Or maybe they're just lazy (:

I assume it's because they want to appear naturally and effortlessly beautiful. Maybe it takes hours to look that dishevelled yet pretty.

Well first, most do brush their hair. But those whom don't are the Gen X. They feel that just working is hard enough, can you imagine if one of these Gen X stars had to lift a hand to brush their own hair....Outside of the trailer and the proffessional prim and proper. They have someone else to do it, like a surrogate mother, otherwise, it is NOT going to get done. '

I'll tell you what, I don't blame the supermodels for having scraggly looking hair. We all know when they get done up, they look great. It's just a hassle to look uber fabulous like they're expected to every single day. Sometimes I horrify myself when I look in the mirror after having been at work all day, not thinking to brush my hair, and my hair looks just as bad, but it looked great when I walked out the door in the morning! Unless you're obsessive about brushing your hair, even the most beautiful people are bound to have bad hair days. :)

I guess I have to like that they are saying we don't have to have this perfectly flat ironed, blown out, polished look. Gisele's hair looks wavy and a little wind blown, but she still looks put together and like she seriously made an effort.

I dont brush my hair either, but mine doesnt look like theirs. I dont think their hair looks too bad though, its natural looking.

i'm no super-model, but i did hair model for aveda. i NEVER, EVER brush my hair. i own a brush, but i can't remember the last tmie i used it. honestly, even when i do a blow out, i just use my fingers. brushing is damaging & can make hair look too "done".

Gee, i loved this post b/c i don't brush my hair, either (although god knows i am no super model - not even close to a regular old model!!!). For an active girl, your hair just gets messed up so quick that it isn't really worth brushing it. Especially b/c if your hair tangles like crazy, like mine, brushing really damages it. It is easier to brush when it's dry, but since i shower in the morning, it's always wet when i leave the house - definitely not brushable!!! I don't mind a somewhat tousled look and it is so comforting to see that these models don't, either!

Brushing your hair damages it. I haven't brushed mine in years but I do sleep on a satin pillowcase.

I hate this trend too... it doesn't take much... if they don't have time to brush their hair, do they have time to brush their teeth?

I think they look fine. I also think they probably realize their hair is overstressed, and they also probably also get tired of always doing it (or having it done). The hours of getting pretty probably make it just a part of the trade rather than a 'feelin hot' boost the rest of the world gets dressing up. I wear suits and dress up for work every day, and get so sick of it that I have started living in my workout gear and a ponytail everywhere else... grocery store.. errands... whatever. At a certain point, where you're trying all the time for work, it is separate from you and you just don't need it, I guess.

:ROTFL: trésjolie! I feel the same way! Look, if I had my hair messed with by other people 99% of the time, with no control over how much damage is being done to it, I also wouldn't want to do anything else to it if I didn't have to. And these models probably don't feel as pressured as others to look good when they go out, because they're supermodels, they're always told they look great, and they know they look great. So why should they make any more effort to prove to the world that they're attractive? They're supermodels. That's a given.

I am into bed-head style and I never brush my hair either, unless I straigten it...i hv wavy/curly hair :)

I hate to say it, but you know what is horribly damaging to hair? Eating disorders. I'm not saying they all subscribe to the Ana/Mia way of life, but I can promise you that anyone who is suffering most likely can't do too much to their hair on their own without risking it breaking off, falling out, or a bit of both. I bet the stylists they work with have to use a LOT of serious product and care for shoots.
