Why You Should Exfoliate Before Applying Bronzer

Before You Get Your Bronze On, Make Sure You Scrub Up

We've all seen someone who overdoes the bronzer and ends up looking more Pigpen than Penelope Cruz. Bronzers tend to grab onto dry, dead skin and give off the appearance of a dirty face — especially when applied with a heavy hand. We caught up with makeup artist and bronzing aficionado Shalini Vadhera, whose biggest prebronzing recommendation was exfoliation. "It's really important to use a good face scrub at least twice a week," Vadhera said. "You need to remove any dry or dead skin and create a smooth canvas. You'll notice that your bronzer application is much smoother and more natural looking."

Keep from looking like you've been playing in the dirt. Click through the widget below to shop exfoliating facial scrubs that will get you perfectly prepped and ready to get your bronze on.
