Almost every woman I've talked to has been given some truly crappy beauty advice, regardless of whether she immediately recognized it for what it was, or spent years laboring under a misapprehension. So it's time for a little catharsis: what's the worst beauty advice anyone ever gave you? And how did you find out they were wrong?
Once, I had a lady at the Prescriptives counter tell me that because of my pink and blue undertones, I should only wear blue-based lipsticks and cool-toned eye shadows. It wasn't until years later that I realized that she'd been totally wrong — I actually look much better in warm, bright oranges, yellows, and violets. Unfortunately, I'd already spent my teen years and a bit of my early 20s following her "expert" advice.
