Retro hairstyles featuring well-coiffed shiny waves are having a moment. Finger waves, undulating curls, and Veronica Lake-style locks have cropped up at awards shows and other red carpet events. Think America Ferrera's awards show style and Drew's netted look from earlier this year. When it comes to real life, however, would you wear these highly stylized vintage-inspired looks? Are you impressed with their classy, old-Hollywood appeal, are you intimidated by their intricate nature, or should these retro looks just be retired?

i'm so glad pin straight hair is out...i have exaggerated features (big eyes, big lips, etc) so the flat hair thing did NOT suit me...my hair is also thick and wavy, so it was an ordeal getting it that way. funny thing is, my hair naturally looks "retro" so i guess those years of suffering through flat irons have been redeemed...
Nothing overly stylized for daily wear, but I do put pincurls in when I feel like it.
Pretty but I need help to do these styles
I have always wanted Veronica Lake waves, but it never turns out right.
for years, I rocked a Louise Brooks bob; I still see it around fairly often
I would definitely need help but these looks are classic and gorgeous. I'm actually thinking about doing a 1940s vintage wave for my wedding!
I love these...but I'd probably not be able to do them myself...I am terrible at doing my own hair!
I would need professional help...stick straigh baby fine hair does not do waves well at all. My stylist would probably spend an hour doing these looks only for it to be straight within a few hours. But for those few hours, it would be totally worth it!
Yes, but only with my hairdresser help. I'm so bad at doing it by myself. I once tried to curl my hair with those foam curlers, but after removing them I had a panic attack because of what I saw in the mirror. I tried to arrange the locks, no luck. I finished by washing my hair.
Sienna's hair looks beautiful!
My hair does that on it's own.. very bouncy, but hard to tame sometimes.
No, my hair would not take a curl. It's stubbornly straight and coarse. My hair would DAMAGE before it would curl.
However, I do love those styles -- elegant and feminine. I especially love it when it's natural.
It would't suit my character. I prefer my hair short and bed-head-ish.
Yes, and luckily my hair just does that retro "wave" thing to begin with.
love these styles!
Just recently had my hair styled (Marilyn Monroe ish) for a wedding...All I can say is that with all of the hair spray involved- I'm glad smoking is banned in restaurants or I easily could have combusted!
Loving Sienna's hair in that pic
@1 - why do you follow trends? who cares whats 'in'...why dont you do whatever flatters you the most?
..pathetic.
oh yeah! i love old hollywood glamour! i wish i knew how to get it perfect like sienna's hair though... plus, i take forever doing my hair and my hair is short, so it would take tons of practice for me to achieve something close.
My hair is just the same, like Retrodoll and McSquish. I've only recently learned that the less I mess with it, the better it looks. Wish I could get all those hours back I spent trying to "tame" it.
I do my hair like this regularly. The first time was not pretty. All I can say is practice, practice, PRACTICE! And it'll be like you can curl your hair with your eyes closed!
i love 1950s hairstyles & updos
A very easy hair style
my hair is naturally like this, the only problem i do like my hair in a pony tail or up do cause her is like every day 36ºC
