If you haven't noticed, Hollywood has been trading in its long, flowing locks for chic, short hairstyles. From Beyoncé's epic hair reveal on Instagram to Jennifer Aniston's bob and, most recently, Jennifer Lawrence's pixie, now's the time to try out a new look. If you're scared to go for the big chop, we caught up with Herbal Essences Celebrity Stylist Charles Baker Strahan to hear his thoughts on the new short hair trend.
It seems Demi Lovato is still in her blue period. The X Factor judge stepped out for the premiere of Disney's Frozen last night with her freshly colored hair pulled back into a tousled updo. Perhaps it was in spirit on the film, but Demi's hair was a rich, radiant shade of blue. She complemented her azure mane with a neutral makeup palette that featured a shimmering bronze shadow dusted all over her lids. What do you think of Demi's jewel-toned hair?
We're eager to see Emma Stone any time she makes an appearance, and yesterday she was out in LA for a photocall for the upcoming film The Amazing Spider-Man 2. She worked the cameras with her onscreen and offscreen boyfriend Andrew Garfield. She smiled and hung out with fans in a casual, cool look. She wore her shoulder-length locks in tousled waves with long sideswept bangs. She wore a red pair of sunglasses, so she kept her lips a natural pink hue. But we also spotted her sans the shades, and her eyes were dusted with brown eyeshadow for a polished daytime look.
Our Pinterest feed is full of colorful hair inspirations — the pastel, dip-dyed kind — and L'Oréal Professionnel is bringing that look to the salon. The brand is launching Hairchalk, which comes in eight temporary shades like blue, pink, and green. "It allows us to go toward younger women, women who love changes, who aren't necessarily [attracted to coloring]," Ségolène de Noray, marketing director of L'Oréal Professionnel and Essie, told WWD.
The Hairchalk color fades after two to 10 washes, depending on your hair color, and will also be available for purchase in salons for at-home treatments. Brand ambassador Alexa Chung showed off her braided look accented with L'Oréal Professionnel's Hairchalk (pictured above) on Instagram. The collection hits European salons this month, while we'll have to wait until March to get it Stateside. Each bottle will retail for $24 and has up to 10 treatments.
When the holiday season hits, scents like fir trees, peppermint candies, and sugar cookies reign supreme. While I love all of those things that make the holidays special, I personally don't find the candle form all that appealing. But this year, I'll be trading in my everyday candles for the Bath & Body Works Champagne Toast Scented Candle ($20). The holiday-appropriate packaging opens up with the type of light, effervescent scent that I typically gravitate toward. Champagne notes mingle with juicy hints of nectarine and black currant. And if that's an excuse for more clinking champagne glasses, I'm all for it.
Some of Hollywood's hottest stars stepped out for last night's Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Governors Awards, and we got a sneak peek of award-season-worthy beauty looks. Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Garner were just a couple of the A-list actresses in attendance. Click through to see their red carpet beauty and get some inspiration for your next formal affair.
When H&M launched its New Orleans flagship store yesterday, style stars Blake Lively and Emma Roberts stepped out to celebrate with the help of The Sunshine Kids, an organization that provides positive support to children with cancer. Dressed in H&M's Spring 2014 collection and Isabel Marant for H&M, Blake and Emma paired their looks for the masquerade with blond waves and fresh-faced makeup. Blake opted for a more tousled look with a pink makeup palette for a more casual, cool look.

Last night, after an appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman, Claire Danes stepped out with newly dyed hair. She ditched her longtime blond locks for a strawberry-blond hue, which was only enhanced by her bright red ensemble. The colder months are the perfect time to try out a darker hair color, and Claire made sure to darken her eyebrows to go with her new look, too. She complemented her new red hair color with a sexy smoky eye. We're loving this color swap on the Homeland star, but we want to know what you think!
Leave it to the Paris red carpet to bring out the most stunning beauty look we've seen from Jennifer Lawrence yet. For the French premiere of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, she wore her pixie in a polished style that's reminiscent of Michelle Williams. But it was her striking makeup that had our jaws dropping. Jennifer played up her pale complexion with a moody red lipstick and black liner that made her blue eyes pop. We love that she's not only playing with her new haircut but her makeup, too. What's your take on Jennifer's bold makeup look?

Robert Pattinson is known for his signature bedhead and for occasionally sporting some sexy scruff, but last night at the Bel Air Bay Club's Go Go Gala, he showed off a new goatee. There's some grown-in facial hair, but it's pretty clear that Robert strategically shaped a goatee on his chin. This Movember we've been celebrating the hottest celebrity beards, but how does Robert's trimmed beard stack up?
After cutting my hair this past week, I only like my new shorter look with a wave in it, so this means I've been spending more time with my curling iron than usual. And one thing I've learned is that not all heated wands were created equal, and the mere fact that this one rotates instantly makes the Sarah Potempa Beachwaver ($199) stand out. No, it's not some gimmick, it actually serves a purpose. Not only does the spinning rod make it easier and faster to curl your hair, but it ensures there's a uniformity to your curls, so both sides turn out right. Plus, the longer wand makes it great for lengthier strands (like I used to have), because more of your hair can actually touch the heated barrel. But for my freshly cut hair, I just clip in sections and push the button to rotate the iron, making it easier for me to curl my hair without fumbling with my new shorter length. So regardless of how long your hair is, this tool makes perfect waves a breeze.
Katy Perry took over the Covergirl Instagram account yesterday to give us a peek inside her campaign for the beloved drugstore brand. And ever since we heard news of Katy's latest spokesperson deal, we've been anxious to see what products the pop star will be the face of. Judging by the shot above, it looks as though it's going to include flirty lashes, bold lip colors, and Katy's black mane.

One look that we've seen pop up on the red carpet over and over again is beautiful sideswept waves that impart an Old Hollywood vibe on the stars who wear them. While it might seem otherwise, the polished style can be achieved without a beauty team. Just grab a blow dryer, round brush, curling iron, pins, and some hair spray, and you're well on your way to chic curls. We headed to the Patrick Melville Pipino Salon, where celebrity stylist Ric Pipino gave us his tips on creating the glamourous look at home.
Having long, straight hair means plenty of heat damage and inevitable static once the puffer coat comes out. But this season, I've finally found a way to nourish my hair without the added grease that easily builds up on my finer strands. Ojon Rare Blend Oil Rejuvenating Therapy Lightweight Texture ($35) has three lightweight oils: Tahitian monoi, jasmine, and the brand's signature ojon oil. Shake it up and add a couple drops to wet hair before you style for added protection. Plus, the fast-absorbing formula can even add shine and tame my hair's flyaways when it's dry. As a beauty editor who fears hair products, I think I've found my match.
Whether it's on the red carpet or Instagram, we all love nails. From a glossy red manicure to intricate nail art, there are many ways for us to polish our fingertips, and we never get tired of trying out a new bottle. This holiday there are plenty of gorgeous polish sets, small and large, for the lacquer lover on your list. Here's what we're adding to our wish lists!
Shockwaves hit the beauty world when hair icon Jennifer Aniston debuted her new bob haircut. We caught up with the star's mane man, Chris McMillan, who is responsible for creating Jennifer's new style. See what he has to say about the cut and why Hollywood seems to be embracing shorter-hair trend, too.
POPSUGAR: What made you and Jennifer decide to go with a new, shorter cut?
Chris McMillan: Jen just wanted a change! We had been toying with the idea for a while and just decided to go for it.
PS: How would you describe the cut?
CM: The cut is a really chopped up A-line bob. We are calling it the unprecious bob. The hair has long pieces in the front and is shorter in the back. It is very piecey with tons of layers, but no hard edges.
PS: First there was the long bob, and now we have been seeing a lot of bobs lately. What do you think is making Hollywood continue to go shorter?
CM: I love short hair! A lot of the women I work with, both on the red carpet and at my salon, have been asking for short cuts lately. I think women want hair that is easy to style but still looks great. Cuts like this bob are perfect for that. Honestly, you don’t even need to blow-dry the hair!
PS: What makes the bob a great cut?
CM: How easy it is! Jen has been applying Living Proof’s Perfect Hair Day 5-in-1 Styling Treatment ($26) to wet hair and letting it air dry. The product adds volume, conditions, and gives it a shine — that's all you need!
PS: What do people need to consider if they want go for a chin-length cut?
CM: Just go for it. It will always grow back!
