Theyskens' Theory Gives You the Skin of the Future For Fall 2013
It was about the future at Theyskens' Theory's Fall 2013 show, from the minimalist clothing to the clean, fresh skin. Designer Olivier Theyskens worked with James Kaliardos for MAC to execute the woman of the future, putting the focus on a diffused, lit-from-within complexion. The hair, by Kérastase's Odile Gilbert, felt equally polished and yet untouched, with strands slicked back into a headband for a cool waterfall effect. Curious to see what we'll all look like in 2013? Well, check out our video now.
Anna Sui's '60s Makeup Makes Us Want to Bat Our Lashes!
The look coming down the Anna Sui Fall 2013 runway took a playful spin on the '60s! Hairstylist Garren, who works with Anna every season, took inspiration from a Catherine Deneuve photo and updated her signature bouffant into a pageboy style, wrapping hair around a ponytail and tucking it under for the pouf effect. For the girls with short hair, like Karlie Kloss and Jessica Stam, watch the video to find out his personalized hair plan of attack. Makeup artist Pat McGrath created the adorable — and wearable — '60s look, sticking with a strong cat eye and dots under the bottom lashes for a mod twist. Much like the choreographed dance that started the runway show, the look was the perfect mix of playful and coy. We can't wait to try the look ourselves.
Backstage at Michael Kors: The New Smoky Eye (and Racy Ponytails)
For Fall 2013, Michael Kors turned out an athletic-meets-chic collection that the beauty team of Dick Page and Orlando Pita complemented with an equally strong and sexy hair and makeup look. Page reinterpreted the smoky eye, creating what he called a "block eye" with black at the corners and lighter pink toward the center, while Pita used a very interesting — and quite racy — measure to secure his long, swinging ponytails. Dying to know the secret behind the pulled-back style? Well, you'll have to watch our video to find out!
Zac Posen Proves that Crimped Hair Can Be Glamorous!
Zac Posen is known for his glamorous runways, and for Fall 2013 he paired his red-carpet-worthy frocks with crimped chignons and deep berry lips. The updos, according to key hairstylist Luigi Murenu for John Frieda, offered a sense of lightness when paired with the gowns. And as for the makeup, artist Kabuki for MAC described it as an almost reverse smoky eye, inspired by the supermodels of the '90s. A brick-red lip punctuated the look. We went backstage at Posen's show (set at the famed and gilded Plaza Hotel) to watch a model go through hair and makeup from start to finish. Watch and see how the posh look came together.
