Lupita Nyong'o's Hair and Makeup at SAG Awards 2014

Did Lupita Nyong'o Just Bring Back a Classic '90s Hairstyle?

We're deep into award season, and Lupita Nyong'o has nailed every red carpet so far, including at the SAG Awards. The actress, who scooped up the award for outstanding performance by a female actor in a supporting role for 12 Years a Slave, started her look off with a '90s-era flattop that was very Will Smith in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Hairstylist Ted Gibson had teased that her hair would be bigger tonight, and he didn't disappoint!

Her eye makeup was a medley of blues, which was inspired by her beautiful dress. "Her dress is this gorgeous green color that has all of these beautiful flowers across the chest, so I wanted to do something with the eyes that reminded me of butterflies on flowers," celebrity makeup artist Nick Barose said. He used a blue, a purple, and a yellow on her eyes, starting by smudging the blue shade of Chanel Quadra Eye Shadow in Fascination ($59) from the inner corner of Lupita's eye to the center. Next, he layered on Chanel Ombré Essentielle Soft Touch Eye Shadow in Amethyst ($29) from the outer corner toward the center, but the two colors did not meet. He finished by applying Chanel Le Crayon Khol Intense Eye Pencil in Peche Cuivré ($28), an intense yellow, into the center and diffused the colors together.

As for her nails, Deborah Lippmann applied one coat of Swagga Like Us ($19) before painting on Chain Reaction from the Rock This Town set ($42).
