Thanks to my superfine hair, stretching the amount of time I can go between washes is a real challenge. By day two, I definitely need a few sprays of dry shampoo — and by day three, the only thing that can camouflage my oily hair is a low bun.

Throw working out into the mix, and it's almost impossible for me to go more than a day and a half without shampooing. My typical fitness routine includes yoga, strength training, and plenty of cardio, which means I'm breaking a sweat almost every time I hit the gym — and I sweat a lot. I pretty much have to wash my hair after a workout if I want to look even halfway presentable.

So when the opportunity to test out Bumble and Bumble's new Pret-a-Powder dry shampoo mist came along, I jumped at the chance — anything to be able to go another day between washes. I put the dry shampoo mist to the test after both an hourlong yoga class and heart-pumping dance cardio workout — and the results were a pleasant surprise. Just take a look at these before-and-afters to see how it went.

After Dance Cardio

I knew my usual dance-cardio class would be the real test for this dry shampoo. Cardio typically leaves me drenched in sweat, so I usually need to wash my hair immediately after. This time, I took a quick body shower, then turned my attention to my hair.

I'll admit that I was dubious at first — how was making my hair even wetter going to help the situation? Still, I dutifully towel-dried the sweatiest parts of my hair, sprayed the mist all over my head, waited 30 seconds, and brushed it out. As soon as my hair started to air-dry, I noticed a difference. Though my strands were still damp, they didn't feel oily or sweaty anymore. Instead, my hair felt soft and — dare I say — fresh.

After Yoga Class

I work from home twice a week and typically take advantage of the extra time before logging on to squeeze in a morning yoga practice. I really didn't feel like washing my hair afterwards, so I decided to see if the Pret-a-Powder mist could add some new life to my third-day hair. After spritzing the mist all over my head, brushing it through, and air-drying, my hair had tousled waves that looked relaxed yet polished.

My Overall Verdict

My Overall Verdict

I started this experiment with a healthy dose of skepticism, but ended up being pleasantly surprised by how effective this dry shampoo really is. Turns out, wetting my sweaty hair with the mist worked almost like a quick rinse in the shower, without the need to blow dry. The light, floral scent also covers up any lingering postgym smell, but isn't as overwhelming as some of the other dry shampoos I've used.

The biggest pro of this dry shampoo? It worked equally well no matter how much I sweat — and I sweat a lot. Being able to postpone my usual post-workout hair wash also means I can go straight from the gym to the office or dinner with friends — something I haven't been able to do in the past. It's safe to say that I'll be keeping the Pret-a-Powder dry shampoo mist ($30) in my gym bag from now on.
