If anyone's got effortless beauty on lockdown, it's Chrissy Teigen. When we met on a rainy day at a West Hollywood hotel, the seven-time Sports Illustrated swimsuit model, Lip Sync Battle cohost, and cookbook author was sporting a flawlessly neutral, lash-heavy look. It also didn't hurt that the 30-year-old mother-to-be was positively glowing. Her snug black dress showed off a beautiful belly, and her hair cascaded in glamorous waves, with just the right amount of volume — fitting since she was there celebrating her new role as a brand ambassador for Tresemmé's Beauty-Full Volume collection.

The line — which includes prewash conditioner, shampoo that softens sans heaviness, a maximizer, mousse, and hair spray — is something Teigen uses on a daily basis, ensuring that this endorsement passes her self-proclaimed "bullsh*t meter." That's another thing we love about Teigen: her unabashed authenticity. She is not afraid to speak her mind, and when it comes to shutting down haters, Mrs. John Legend is a total pro. Just last week, she took to Twitter to tell snarky commenters to "Go f*cking be happy, please."

When I asked if her husband offers any advice in this arena, she laughed: "He knows better than to give me any social media tips." But tips from Teigen are exactly what we want. Here, she reveals how to feel awesome in the face of haterade so you, too, can adopt her zero-tolerance policy . . . starting now.

Have a No-Fail Hair Look

"I always love when my bang is longer. There's something really sultry about a deep side part and very long hair. For me, it elongates my face and I feel nice with it. If I'm off a red-eye [flight] or something, though, it is going up, nice and tight on the sides so it pulls my face back. My hair and makeup people want to try new things all the time . . . we want to be different and think outside the box, but sometimes it's so mood-based for me. I want to feel really good and confident, and sometimes, that means going back to the old things that you love and playing it safe."

Sport a Lipstick You Love

"I love browns. It's a mom thing. Remember when you'd get that free gift at Lancome or whatever and you could pick [a lipstick]? They would have two colors, the pink one and the brown one. My mom always went brown; I used to make so much fun of her. But yeah, now I love a brown lip, that's definitely my favorite. If I'm wearing a color, it's because the makeup artist forced it on me."

Have a Beauty Plan B

"If my skin is bad, I'm out for the day. Like, I really mentally am not there. I hate that feeling. My esthetician Shani Darden has this thing called Retinol Reform ($95), which is like a spot treatment, and I love it so much. I used to use it all the time, 'cause I used to have bad skin when I'd get periods, but now I haven't seen one of those for awhile so I don't really remember what it's like to have bad skin, thank god. I will in a couple of months, though."

Keep It Simple

"I don't do very much. Honestly, I like effortless, easy. My shower is 15 minutes. I'm very neurotic with my products, I really stick to what I love — shampoo, conditioner, razor. That stuff I'm very particular about — I'm crazy about men's razors — but I don't really do too much. I keep things very simple."

Comfort Is Key

"I wear so much makeup on set — stage makeup is pretty crazy — and taking off the eyelashes is the best feeling. I wear two strip lashes on top and then I wear individuals on the bottom for television, and removing those is a must. As soon as I walk in the door — it's like taking your bra off, it's so good."

Make Feel-Good Food

"I love casseroles. I love family-style anything. I grew up on those giant lasagnas that you just pop in the oven. John and I had a family-style wedding, there's just something about passing around a big dish of food. And casseroles get better as they sit; they're better the next day. So anything nice and hearty that can be scooped out of a casserole, that's my ultimate comfort food — my mom's scalloped potatoes, green bean casserole, I have a tuna casserole that I love. But I'm not a huge leftovers nut so I need more family members . . . that's what we're trying to do [laughs]."

Work It Out

"I love working out, I really love doing Body by Simone. It mixes barre and dance, but I don't do the dance part, 'cause I can't dance. I'm notoriously bad at it. Even if it's like two steps, I can't remember them. But I really love doing that because for me, working out is truly about endorphins and that feeling afterwards. Because [in] my family, it's mainly about diet. You can work out all you want, but if you go home and eat like crap, it's not really going to do anything."

Speak Your Mind

"When I get worked up, the only thing that helps is saying something [laughs]."
