Another day, another TikTok beauty trend — except unlike the few that I plan on staying far, far away from (hemorrhoid cream for undereye bags, anyone?), the latest viral trend is something I'm fully ready to try for myself. Over the last few weeks, my social media feed has been blowing up with people testing the "double gloss" makeup technique.

According to TikTok, the trend originated with Fenty Beauty as a way to layer the brand's lip oil and lip gloss, but it's since taken on a life of its own. The double-gloss method is simple: all you have to do is start with either a lip oil or a lip mask and then top it off with a lip gloss, which should leave you with the most luscious-looking lips ever — at least if the videos are to be believed.

"Just when I thought I'd tried everything," influencer Mikayla Nogueira says in a TikTok video before trying the trend. "Double glossing? Next thing you know we're going to have double concealing, double bronzing . . ."

Although Nogueira seems a little hesitant at first, after trying it out, she's sold. I'm all about layering my lip products to get the perfect pout, so honestly, the idea wasn't too far-fetched for me. I usually layer lip gloss over lipstick, or an occlusive like Aquaphor over a lip mask, so I assumed the process would be similar. However, I had never tried to get an ultra-glossy wet look, which is what I was hoping this method would do for me. The first time I tested it, I started out by taking the Gisou Lip Oil ($32) and slathering it all over my lips. Then, I took the Fenty Gloss Bomb in Glass Slipper ($21) and layered it on top of the lip oil. Immediately after, my lips looked good.

I have some sun damage on my lips, which makes them a little discolored, and since both of the products I used were sheer, I knew I needed to start with something that would add some color. Lately, I've been obsessed with lip stains because they feel completely weightless and they last for hours. So, for the first layer, I started with the Wonderskin Lip Stain in Romance ($22). From there, if my goal is hydration, I go in with the Lawless Forget the Filler Overnight Lip Plumping Mask in Cherry Vanilla ($22) and follow it up with the Fenty Gloss Bomb. If my goal is the slickest, drippiest lips this earth has ever seen, I follow up my lip stain with the Gisou lip oil and then the Fenty lip gloss.

All in all, I'm a huge fan of this trend, and after trying it multiple ways with quite a few different products, I can safely say that it's going to be a permanent part of my routine.
