Aside from professional makeup artists, there's one group of people we trust implicitly with makeup advice: drag queens. Whether it's an old-school contouring technique or fresh product recommendations, they know what they're talking about when putting together a lewk.

If you've had the privilege of seeing a drag show in person — or you've just watched every episode of "RuPaul's Drag Race" and "Drag Race All Stars" — you know that drag queens are true wizards on and off stage. In front of the lights, they masterfully captivate an audience with their dancing and lip-syncing. Backstage, they paint their faces with a trunk full of products, meticulously concealing, contouring, and highlighting. They can transform into an entirely new character where not even their lip shape or eyebrow location is the same.

It takes a lot of hard work, coordination, hairspray, and glitter to be a drag artist, but they know where to splurge — as Kandy Muse previously told POPSUGAR, "Looking good for drag is very expensive" — and where to save, like with drugstore makeup.

We asked Symone, season 13 winner of "RuPaul's Drag Race," and Gigi Goode, the season 12 runner-up, to compile a drag-queen-approved shopping list for creating a full beat. The one requirement: it must only include affordable products you can find at the drugstore. To no one's surprise, they delivered. Keep reading to shop their picks.

Every good beat starts with the right prep. For primer, Goode and Symone unanimously agree the E.l.f. Poreless Putty Primer ($10) is a must. "That is a really, really good one," Symone tells POPSUGAR. "You couldn't get it for the longest time."

As far as foundations go, theMaybelline Super Stay Full Coverage Liquid Foundation ($14) can't be beat. Goode says it's her go-to for travel, and Symone attests that it delivers on its claims: "[It's] very, very full coverage. It spackles you."

No stage-ready face is complete without a highlighter that can be seen from outer space. "Wet n Wild is really good with the highlighter — stun," Symone says, referring to the MegaGlo Highlighting Powder ($5). Then, you're onto the final touches: blush. There's no denying the drugstore is filled with amazing options, but the queens' top choice is the NYX Sweet Cheeks Creamy Powder Blush ($8).

Symone and Gigi Goode's Favorite Drugstore Eye Makeup

The first and only category to temporarily stump the drag queens was eyeshadow. "That's a tough one, because the drugstores only have those four color palettes," Goode says. However, it didn't take them too long to land on the NYX Professional Makeup Ultimate Eyeshadow Palette ($20) as a must. "They'll have the palettes with just the neutrals, and they also have colors ones, too, so that's always good," Symone says.

For lashes, it's no contest: Ardell wins, hands down. "You can get everyday lashes," Symone says as Goode throws out her favorite: Demi Wispies ($9). "You can get you a bottom lash too if you're feeling real good," Symone adds.

Next, the category is eyebrows. "I used a lot of NYX brow products coming up out the gate," Goode says, referring to her early days of performing. A standout from the brand is the Lift & Snatch Eyebrow Tint Pen ($13), which is also editor-approved.

Symone and Gigi Goode's Favorite Drugstore Lip Products

For lips, Goode says, "The glosses from Maybelline are really good." The brand makes the Maybelline Super Stay Vinyl Ink ($13), which has a long-wearing shine.

However, Symone had to briefly mourn a discontinued favorite of her own. "NYX had my favorite lip gloss, and it was called Sugar Mama, and it was the perfect nude, and they don't make it anymore — send me every last one of them, please," she says. (NYX, help her out.)

And with that, "The cart is full, hunny," Symone says.
