I guess cosmetics companies know that the secret to great marketing is to resonate with your audience, and if there is one strong feeling I'm having right now, it's Spring fever! So I thought I'd tell you about three great Spring products with feverishly cute names that are making me even more excited to use them.
Do you think product names have a subliminal effect on your buying power? Tell me below, and check out these perfect products for Spring. They look good, smell good, and make me feel warm all over.
Clarins Summer Fever Lip Colour Palette ($24.50) is a lip gloss palette that includes six shiny, sun-colored glosses. The texture of the glosses is really quite smooth, and they have a sweet and fruity flavor to them. Colors in the palette include bright pink, sheer shimmering peach, shimmering bronze rose, juicy coral, sheer beige shimmer, and shimmering light pink.

These limited-edition color pots sound like just my thing: The moisturizing formula has a lip balm texture with a lip gloss feel, and they're even a bit more sheer than regular gloss. The nine shades come complete with SPF 12 and a refreshing and light strawberry-kiwi flavor that's perfect for summertime.

I love retro packaging and natural products, so I simply must get my hands on some of this Filthy Farmgirl soap very soon . Don't let the name fool you: These brightly wrapped bars are anything but tainted. In fact, they're made from 100 percent natural ingredients — including homegrown herbs and coconut and safflower oil — and the labels are printed on recycled paper.
The bars ($5 each) come in a dozen yummy scents with cute, sassy names: I'm especially curious to try Silly Sarsparilla, Cinnamon Temptation, and Peppermint Patootie. As Polkadotrobot pointed out, Filthy Farmgirl offers free shipping on all U.S. orders, and the company offers free samples if you spend a mere $10. (That's just two soaps!) Judith Leiber is famous for her classically luxurious evening bags, and now the designer is extending that expertise to fragrance. According to Women's Wear Daily, the brand is launching its first eau de parfum, called Leiber, in September. It will be sold in 150 upscale stores, including Saks, Neiman Marcus, and Bloomingdale's.
The scent uses top notes of bergamot, mandarin leaf, pineapple, and osmanthus and includes a number of floral accents, such as rose essence, jasmine absolu, and gardenia, plus muskier base notes. According to WWD:
"The Leiber customer wants something exceptionally crafted, rare and not available to everyone," Leiber's president and creative director, Frank Zambrelli, said in a recent interview. "We wanted to express that in a fragrance."
... The bottle is meant to resemble an Asscher-cut diamond, "an oversized cocktail ring," said Zambrelli.
The bottle also seems to echo Leiber's evening bag designs, which is a nice touch. Leiber eau de parfum will be available in three sizes: a 1.7-ounce version for $110, a 1-ounce bottle for $75, and a purse spray (naturally!) with refill for $95.
The classic and practical low ponytail is perfect for Summer, whether you're going for a formal or a more casual look.
Though simple, this hairstyle can be worn in several different ways. You might pull your hair straight back, comb it into a deep side part, or wear blunt-cut or side-swept bangs. If you want to get a little trendy, try accessorizing with a headband or small braids in the front.
Just in the nick of time for the hot and humid summertime weather comes the latest launch from NARS Cosmetics. Called Perfecting Powdered Sheets and hitting stores July 1, these blotting sheets are designed to absorb oil and sweat from your face. They help eliminate shine and leave you skin feeling fresh and clean. Each paper contains a light layer of velvety NARS powder that is scented with rosemary — nice!
The powder sheets ($19.50 for 100) come in a thin black plastic case, but what I liked best about them is that they are really big! (I usually need about three of those tiny rose-colored powder papers to do the trick.) It's a perfectly compact solution to keep in your car or your tote for those muggy days ahead.
I am not usually a big fan of Fergie's look. Sometimes, her hair and makeup are just so bold and brazen, she looks like she's made of wax. But she showed up at an event this past weekend looking unusually cute, with natural, wavy locks and more subdued makeup. Which Fergie to you prefer?
