Hard to believe that Kelly Osbourne used to come off like a foul-mouthed brat, isn't it? At last night's party for Flaunt magazine, the 24-year-old looked more like a punk debutante than an angsty teenager. While her hair may no longer be shocking pink, she still wears the hue with confidence on her lips. The exact color is MAC lipstick Show Orchid, a shade available only at MAC Pro stores. The key to pulling off a bold hue like this one? Stick with lipstick, not gloss, and keep the rest of your makeup simple. Cool.

Holiday gift sets already provide good value, but now the prices are pretty unbelievable on Vincent Longo. Sephora is shaving 30 percent off much of the brand's inventory, and the deals are pretty good:
- Amalfi Dream ($40.60, a $125 value) is a six-piece set featuring an eye shadow trio, lip gloss, double-sided lip pencil, lipstick, eye soufflé, and mascara.
- The Lip Luster Set ($26.60, an $89 value) has two lip/cheek gel stains, a lip gloss, and best of all, Rosewood Luster gloss, one of my favorites. That alone costs $22, so you do the math.
- Venus Envy ($33.60, a $101 value) is a five-piece set with a coral-and-blue theme.
In 2003, designer Narciso Rodriguez successfully launched his gorgeous first fragrance collection, For Her Eau de Toilette ($40 to $87), a seductive, great-for-evening kind of scent. And this Spring, Rodriguez is about to get a little more demure with Essence Eaux de Parfum Collection ($33 to $100), a new fragrance line that also will include a body lotion, shower gel, and deodorant spray.
“Essence is very sexy but has that crisp, clean, pure quality of sunlight,” Rodriguez told WWD. This sunny floral, powdery musk will contain notes of rose, iris powder, benzoin balm, and of course, musk — his signature touch. “I love [musk] so much for its beautiful qualities, its rawness and its sensuality,” said Rodriguez.
Speaking of that sensuality, the rounded and mirrorlike bottle is futuristic looking with an intriguing, "I want to touch that" quality. Want to try out some Essence? Look for Rodriguez's creation in the US on March 1 (with a global introduction in April), where it's set to launch for a seven-month exclusive at Saks Fifth Avenue.

Earlier this week, I filled you in on the brand's 12 Days of Christmas Lip-Stravanganza in my post about three lip balms for mistletoe moments, and now here's another festive find: 8 Days of Luscious Lips Happy Hanukkah Lip Spa Set ($18). Included in the sweet kit is a brown sugar exfoliating lip scrub, two breath mint lip balms, a hazelnut cocoa butter lip balm, a day/night lip conditioner, a mango butter lip balm, a shiny clear gloss, and a matte gloss. The only thing that could make this cute collection better? A piping-hot plate of latkes to go with it.
While drugstore varieties Maybelline and CoverGirl (along with luxe Lancôme) were neck-in-neck for second place in the Best Mascara of 2008 showdown, it seems that the majority of you adore Dior when it comes to mascara. Our very own DearSugar agrees. "I can't tell you how much I love my Dior!" she said with gusto.
As for me, my favorite mascara of the year is Givenchy's truly unique Phenomen'Eyes Mascara. It made some of my sparsest of lashes look longer and thicker. Yeah, it took some getting used to, but once I got it down, I was sold. Are you excited to see some more results? Back in October I announced a rather exciting contest: BellaSugar's Ultimate Beauty Getaway. "Wow. Any of those prizes would be amazing!" loyal reader Hippiecowgirl commented. Little did she know she'd be on her way to SF in less than two months as winner of this prize. Just last weekend, the lucky lady, along with her hubby in tow, flew into San Francisco to claim her winnings of a few days worth of pampering.
At night, they caught up on their beauty sleep at the ultracool W Hotel. And by day, while her husband took in the sights, Hippiecowgirl received a massage, eyebrow wax, and mani/pedi at Bliss; Lunch with me at the posh Rotunda Restaurant at Neiman Marcus; a cut/color from Kérastase at the Red Chair Salon; and a makeup consultation with a national makeup artist at Bare Escentuals' flagship store. Oh, and she also popped into Sugar HQ to see how it all goes down around here. Whew.
So what did the lovely Hippiecowgirl do to deserve all this? Find out how she won, what she had to say about her experience, and view some pics from the weekend when you read more
Or does it? Call it the poor man's lip plumper, or just simply call it an easy way to be frugal and spicy this holiday season — well, that is if you're not too sensitive, like me.
Recently, I received an email tip with an idea from Andrea Claire, senior makeup artist from FACE atelier. She explained that adding a little cayenne pepper to your lip gloss creates a natural plump. Knowing that cayenne can do a number on my stomach, I was a little leery, but doing a little experiment in the kitchen sounded a lot more fun than any amount of pain.
The outcome? I definitely felt tingling lips, and my pout was plumper. Unfortunately, I also had chapped lips. I think this little trick is great in a pinch (it did work, after all), be careful if you're prone to irritation — or your pout may be more peeved than plumped.
Because you're an opinionated bunch — and I love that! — from here on out, we'll be highlighting one reader review every day. And what better way to start than with a hydrating shampoo to help treat dry, brittle wintertime hair? Here's demure20's take on Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Moisturizing Shampoo:
I just picked this up a week ago and I cannot stop bragging about how well it works! I've been trying to save my hair for the past eight months from dry, brittle, thinning, massive hair loss and seriously... my hair has been paper-thin ever since. Then the very moment I dried my hair after using this two-in-one, I was able to run my fingers across a full set of heavy, thick hair! I was smiling cheek to cheek! Not only that, but after several months the shower drain was not covered in a mountain of hair. It went from a mountain of my hair, to only a few strands of hair left on the drain. My hair was full of life once again and incredibly soft, shiny and fluffy!

While I consider myself a fairly glossy girl, with quite a well stocked beauty supply closet at home, I can admit when I've been beat . . . and I've definitely lost this purse contest.
My pal geeksugar just shared this photo of all the lipsticks, glosses, and liners she had in her purse right now. This is not all that she owns, just today. Impressive. Do any of you have her beat? Look in your bag right now and tell me what you find in the lip department.
