One day last week, I got a ton of compliments on my hairstyle. My secret? I went to sleep with wet hair! The just-rolled-out-of-bed look is a surefire hit, and it doesn't require a lot of work. Glossing cream or styling paste can keep the flyaways at bay, or go for a more glamorous look by using a flat iron. Get tips on achieving the style or keep reading for 10 reference points for this simply sexy look.
There's no mistaking Eartha Kitt's voice for anyone else's; it's the one that makes "Santa Baby" the world's sexiest Christmas song, and her trademark purr left an indelible mark on Broadway and lounge music alike. But it was her iconically sexy turn as Catwoman in the original television version of Batman that made her a household name. In becoming the ultimate comic book temptress, Eartha became a living (gorgeous) rebuttal to the bigotry and marginalization people of color were faced with in Hollywood and American culture in general. She was a model of the self-possessed, powerful woman, and her personal convictions were as amazing as the characters she played.
Most famously, Eartha, while at a White House luncheon, was asked by then-First Lady Lady Bird Johnson what she thought about the Vietnam War's progress. She responded very calmly, "You send the best of this country off to be shot and maimed. No wonder the kids rebel and take pot." There was enormous popular backlash against her, but she stood by her statement in the face of career derailment, threats, and pleas from her friends to retract. Such strength of principle and beauty are a rare combination, but Eartha had it. Orson Wells, who was madly in love with her despite her total disinterest in him, once called her the "most exciting woman in the world," and we wholeheartedly agree. Ms. Kitt, you were truly the cat's meow.
I'm doing a little dance right now because Exhale, the luxe spa that has everything from Core Fusion exercise classes to acupuncture and brow tweezing, is adding another quirky set of services — and they're cheap, my friends, (relatively) cheap. From this month on, all their spas will have a Wellbar kiosk that offers shorter, less expensive takes on some of their full-length services, which means $20 for a zit-zapping mini-facial that includes a round of blue light therapy, or $40 for an aromatherapy scalp and hand massage, which is incredi-cheap given how much spa massages usually cost. It sounds perfect for days when I'm stressed in the morning and just need a half hour of pampering.

HerCut offers five styling "Catalysts" ($22 each) that pump out a cream on one side and a gel on the other, to complement the foundation of the haircut (think multichambered toothpaste dispensers). Those haircut foundations are the Bob, the Blunt, the Shag, Long Layers, and the Pixie. The product lineup also includes three different types of paraben- and sulfate-free shampoos ($19 each) and conditioners ($19).

Recently, I caught a rerun of Paula's Party on the Food Network, where silver-haired TV personality Jay Manuel, of ANTM fame, dished out hair color tips to fellow silver-haired host Paula Deen. If I'm not mistaken, I believe he said he uses a toner by the name of "Silver Lady" to get that distinctive lustrous shade. This got me to thinking about other silvered stars. So, whether you call it white, ultra-platinum, silver, or gray, check out some other celebrities with stunning sterling locks.

For those of us with seriously straight hair, trying to get loose, soft curls like the ones Kat Dennings had on the red carpet for the movie Shorts can be maddening — your hair is too curly right out of the curling iron, so then you have to brush it out a little or put in some hair creme, then your curls won't stay in without a ton of hairspray, but that just makes them crunchy and heavy, so after a couple of hours they fall out anyway. It's a sad situation, but one that can be remedied. To get you curled up with the best of them, I've put together four easy tricks for getting the most out of your curl. Just read more.
