The "American Horror Story: Delicate" Trailer Is Giving "Rosemary's Baby" With a Twist

Kim Kardashian and the rest of the "American Horror Story" season 12 cast are ready to rock some cradles later this month. FX unveiled the mysterious first look at the upcoming installment on July 20, per a trailer that features shots of Kardashian sporting a blond wig and ghostly makeup as she holds a baby. Series stars Emma Roberts and Cara Delevingne are also seen in the season preview — set to an ominous rendition of "Rock-a-Bye Baby."

On Aug. 15, fans finally got a more thorough update about "American Horror Story" season 12 when FX dropped cast posters that also revealed another big hint — the new season will be split into two parts. And on Sept. 6, the official first trailer arrived, showing Roberts's terrifying pregnancy journey, à la "Rosemary's Baby." Previously, it was announced that a lot of new faces joined season 12, including "Pose" alum Michaela Jaé Rodriguez — but that's not all.

In a June interview with People, Zachary Quinto not only revealed that he'll make a cameo in the upcoming season, but he also said that he was "really impressed" by Kardashian's acting skills. "I did a cameo on this season of 'American Horror Story' and I got to meet her," Quinto said. "She was so lovely and warm and, really, I don't think she needs my advice."

He added, "She seemed really in her element, and I was really impressed by her spirit and her openness. I really look forward to seeing this season because I think she's gonna do a wonderful job."

On April 10, Kardashian announced she'd joined the anthology series, sharing a video set to eerie music Instagram; the clip also revealed that the season would be called "Delicate." Roberts shared the same video on her Instagram that day, along with the caption, "This summer...Kim and I are DELICATE."

Variety confirmed the news shortly after Kardashian posted the video, with a rep for "American Horror Story" creator Ryan Murphy telling the outlet that the star's character was designed especially for her. Reps for FX and Kardashian did not respond to POPSUGAR's request for comment.

Speaking to Variety at the 2023 Met Gala, Kardashian gave an update on filming, saying, "We start shooting my stuff at the end of this month. But production has already started and I'm so excited." Though she didn't reveal much about her role, she did add, "It's really fun to step outside of your comfort zone and try something new and grow. I'm so excited for the experience." Kardashian also revealed she took acting lessons to prepare, saying, "It's a challenge. I like to challenge myself."

Kardashian's "American Horror Story" debut will be her largest acting role to date. She's had smaller roles in 2008's "Disaster Movie," a 2009 episode of "CSI: NY," and 2012's "Drop Dead Diva," among others, and in the years since she's made a number of high-profile cameos and hosted an episode of "Saturday Night Live." She's also continued to work on her business and reality TV projects, including the third season of "The Kardashians."
