Take Your Ponytail Up a Few Notches With an Inside-Out Style
Just as wearing a sweatshirt or t-shirt inside out provides an unexpected twist to your style, so does inverting your ponytail. This flipped-upside-down updo is a classic, and it's a great way to jazz up a sleek, low-slung ponytail during the holiday season. "Setting up the foundation with a good blow-dry makes everything easier," explains stylist Dani Weidner of Robert James Color in San Francisco.
To create a smooth, glossy base, start by running a mousse throughout damp strands, followed by a volumizer at the roots; Weidner recommends Sebastian's Mousse Forte ($17) and Volupte Spray ($20). Once dry, add serum to the hair, and comb through with an ionic brush to lock in shine. Learn what's next — complete with step-by-step instructions — when you read more.
Two Party-Perfect Hairstyles For Curly Hair
It's party season yet again, which means you likely need hairstyle ideas (and fast). Sleek looks never go out of style for a formal affair, but if you have curly hair, you'll want to make sure you're applying heat the right way to prevent damaging those delicate strands. Anthony Dickey, cofounder of Hair Rules Salon in New York, has the solution to getting the smoothness you desire, all while maintaining the integrity of your hair. So convert your curls into sultry vintage waves or opt for a more modern asymmetrical updo. Here are two looks you'll love to try this holiday season.

Get Diane Kruger's Trendy Side-Sweep in Minutes
Never one to show up on the red carpet looking less than fabulous, Diane Kruger nailed it yet again with this straight, swept-to-the-side style. Surprisingly, the low-wave, easy-to-duplicate look was created using a round brush, a hair tool typically reserved for bouncier, curlier coifs.
To achieve the smooth-textured style, which the actress wore to a Chanel anniversary event in NYC, Sebastian Professional stylist Thomas Dunkin prepped the ends of the Diane's towel-dried hair with the brand's Stylixir (inquire for price) for movement and control. After blowing the hair straight with a round brush, Dunkin tightly twisted Diane's strands to the left of the part, securing with a pin. He put the final touches on the trendy, fringe-swooping look with Shine Crafter wax (inquire for price) on the ends for a polished finish. As for Diane's shimmery blue dress? It's from Chanel's Spring 2013 collection.
Look Like a '60s Darling With Dianna Agron's Retro Bouffant
Decked out in a turquoise, pointed-collar frock and eggplant-purple tights at the Miu Miu show earlier this week, Dianna Agron looked like she stepped right off the set of an Austin Powers flick. And that's a good thing. Keeping in theme with her '60s mod vibe, Dianna paired her old-school ensemble with a retro upsweep and doll-like lashes. Fans of all things vintage will love this current take on a midcentury bouffant, and Halloween partygoers now have their Mad Men costumes complete.
To achieve the look, Ramona Eschbach for Oribe Hair Care started by blow-drying Dianna's hair with volume-enhancing products. She then applied the brand's Dry Texturizing Spray ($39) at the roots, followed by Impermeable Anti-Humidity Spray ($38) from the midshaft to ends. After backcombing Dianna's strands at the roots, Eschbach then tied the actress's hair into a low ponytail, twisting and securing the swinging '60s style into place with pins. Yeah, baby, yeah.
