It's the holiday season, which means several things: parties, festive looks, and hangovers. While the latter can just get lost, I'll take the parties and festive looks any day.
So, take a peek at my slideshow for some wintry looks worn by the stars that would make any ice princess proud. Hopefully, you'll find some inspiration in their merry styles.

This year, it was all about getting more than just a trim at the salon. For 2008, shorter styles like the modern pixie and "lob" dominated as the cuts of the year. As far as your favorite, it was a close call between Rihanna and Heidi Klum, but the winner of the Best Shorter Cut of 2008 is Rihanna.
Late in 2007, Rihanna changed her graduated bob to a long and wavy style before settling into her now trademark asymmetrical razored cut. Oh, and the songstress proved that just because it's short, doesn't mean there aren't multitude of ways to wear a cropped 'do. Looking for more of this year's faves? Experts suggest that you toss your mascara every three months (guidelines here), but that doesn't always happen. Lots of us hang on to mascara longer than that, even when things get clumpy. Yesterday, geeksugar told me about her way to salvage the last bits of mascara.
Running hot water over a closed mascara tube often warms and liquefies clumpy mascara, but geeksugar had little success. Instead, she plugged the sink, let hot water fill it up, and tossed the tightly closed tube in there. A few minutes later, the mascara was — and I quote — "a fabulous, dreamy consistency." So there you have it.

No matter what you call it, the economy is dismal. And whether it's due to necessity or just a little financial prudence, a lot of my friends are trimming the fat from their budgets. Gone are the expensive salon highlights; instead, they're coloring their hair at home. Forget facials — it's all about the at-home face mask. Pedicures are an extravagance that they can't justify anymore.
Then again, there are some things people just don't want to give up. I'm willing to skimp on my sunscreen and nail polish, but you'll get my Schick Quattro when you take it from my cold, dead hands. I've tried to go cheap on razors, which results in razor burn, so I'm willing to spend a few extra bucks for a better shave. So while you're cutting back on some things, what won't you give up?
I've got snacking on the mind today (OK, everyday). Because I'll leave food reviews to YumSugar, I've conjured up some of my fave salty and sugary body scrubs. (I know it's not the same thing, but no calories woohoo!)
Both types offer natural exfoliation but there are some key differences. First up, the mineral content in sea salts can help increase circulation on top of taking off that top layer of skin. Sugar won't have that additional benefit (no minerals in sugar . . . sigh) but, if you've got sensitive or nicked skin, you'll be saved the sting from adding salt to your wounds. I like to alternate between the two types – like sugar the day after I've shaved and salt before – so spot products to get your scrub on in the widget below.
