It's October, and for most of you, the weather has officially changed. In the next few weeks, perhaps you'll be celebrating Halloween, Sweetest Day with your honey, or National Cosmetology Month (yay to all you professionals out there!). So I've compiled a list of tricks and treats to help you get in the mood for the whimsical month ahead.
Taking the extra five to ten minutes (OK, hour) to let a facial mask work its magic is one of life's simple pleasures for me. Except, I swear that the doorbell always rings during the process. "That's all right ma'am," said the UPS delivery guy, as I apologized for my most recent goopy green face application. "I've seen it all," he said.
Minor embarrassment aside, I just love the results and feel of masks, whether they be creamy, gel-like, clarifying, acne fighting, or firm inducing. And since we switched up the format of the Beauty Mark It challenges last week with much success, let's do the same thing again this week, with face masks.
Just follow that link above, and review away. Your star-rated opinion will be added to our ever-expanding Product Reviews page, and I'll feature the top three face mask reviews next Tuesday. And don't forget: every day you share a product review, you're entered to win a prize.
Nicky Hilton came to support her sister at the debut of Paris's new MTV reality show, Paris Hilton's My New BFF at LAX yesterday. I'm intrigued by Nicky's hair color — often, colorists go lighter in the front because it's where the sun naturally hits hair and because it can brighten the complexion. While this look is kind of the opposite, the shades of caramel that Nicky's colorist chose and the way her hair is styled here (the darker part is almost like a headband) is something I haven't seen much and I'm digging. When darkness turns to light . . .
I'm totally convinced that Mr. Bella will never understand the purpose of "face paint," as he calls it. Used to even out skin tone and conceal imperfections, foundation creates a base for the rest of your makeup. Consider him informed.
I recall a makeup artist telling me something along the lines of, "Once you get a client hooked on a foundation, they're yours forever." You know, I'm thinking she was right, because let's face it — once you find your ultimate foundation, it's like you've hit the beauty jackpot forever.
For this week's Beauty Mark It challenge, I'm asking you to share your preferred or not-so-preferred foundation choices. Whether it's a matte or dewy finish or comes in liquid, cream, or powder form, let me know what you think.
Just follow one (or all three) of the links above and review away. Your star-rated opinion will be added to our ever-expanding Product Reviews page, and I'll feature the top three foundation reviews next Tuesday. The best part about reviewing? You could be entered for a chance to receive Bella's Ultimate Beauty Getaway! So get to it — a few days of beauty pampering in San Francisco is worth it.
Even if you don't think you know Thierry Mugler's famous fragrance, Angel, you would probably recognize it. Launched in 1992, the scent is a perennial best-seller in both France and the United States. It's a honey-vanilla-chocolate confection — after all, it did launch the gourmand genre — and it's definitely a classic.
But every classic needs an update now and then, and Angel's no exception. Naomi Watts, who's fabulous at forty, appears in a new ad campaign to promote a line of new Angel body products. "Bella, you crazy," you might be thinking. "Angel already has body lotions and what-not." Touché. But the new ones have been tweaked, and in a sense, completely redone to make the perfume longer lasting. Having sniffed how well the Perfuming Body Cream ($80) held up through multiple hand washings, I can tell you that the scents do last a long time without fading or mutating. Is it too punny to say that this is heaven for Angel fans?
Singer and actress Selena Gomez posed for pictures at the 2009 American Music Awards with a pretty pink smile on her face. She took advantage of the occasion and went glam; wearing a Talbot Runhof sequin dress with black strappy heels.
