In the movie The Devil Wears Prada, Meryl Streep dryly says, "Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking." I think this line is brilliant, because, well, she's right. And yet, who doesn't enjoy flowers at this time of year? Last April, I put together a series on flower-embossed makeup products and this year a few new fresh florals have come into bloom. Check out some of this Spring's festive beauty treats.
This season, Sally Hansen once again collaborated with designer Tracy Reese for her runway show. Tracy's collection incorporated North African prints and hues, and the nail colors complement them perfectly. Models wore Tunisian Sand, the tan color shown here, but I've been playing around with Arabian Night, a pearly medium-depth lavender shade. It's a little too fashion-y for the office, but for a springtime pedicure, why not? The coverage is good (you'll need two coats) and it lasted for three days on my fingernails without chipping — no small feat.
Sirtuins are some of the latest discoveries in anti-aging. The enzymes are believed to help prevent cell oxidization that commonly leads to cell death. In terms of your health, they help fight aging, obesity, type II diabetes, gout and Parkinson's disease.
In the beauty world, they work to keep your skin cells healthy for an extended amount of time. Studies show that they can help protect against photoaging and stress.
Without being too cynical — I mean, how much of this do we actually know is true? — don't be surprised if you see products from Avon, Estee Lauder and Caudalie claiming they've bottled the next fountain-of-youth ingredient. These brands have already integrated sirtuins into some of their products. In fact, you can read more about Avon's Anew Ultimate Age Repair Night Cream (which Allure has stamped with its seal of approval) here. ($34).
I bought Cover Girl Professional All In One mascara, the mascara that is supposed to give you everything... Well, it doesn't, of course. It promises so much, but it doesn't do the full job.
It didn't give me volume, and I did have a little clumpiness. It does give a "natural effect," like you don't have on a mascara that "magnifies" your lashes at all. If you already have big and curly lashes, maybe it would look good on you. But I don't, so, I won't use this one.
Looks like I'll stick with my Lash Blast. Share your stories in Beauty Product Junkies, and maybe I'll post yours here, too!
Proving that some things never go out of style, red lips are all over the catwalk at Los Angeles Fashion Week. At Alexis Lamontagna, the look was a dramatic combination of bold, burgundy lips and messy, loose curls. The hair is beautiful, but I'm not sure anyone except Rihanna can pull off that lip color. What do you think?

Among the many qualities that make Whitney Port (of The Hills) so lovely is that she has her own style. I've always thought of Whit as someone who sets trends as opposed to following them. So when I spotted this style star sporting shiny turquoise nail polish, I was excited.
For anyone who's willing to try out a wild new water-colored varnish, get ready for the next big nail trend. You can always go back to my China Glaze review, and here are two more aqua nail polishes.
Nic's Sticks by OPI in Baby Go Bye-Bye ($6.99) is a vibrant turquoise color. This relatively new and easy-to-use nail polish pen is great if you are looking for a quick color fix. I haven't tried them, but there are 30 colors and from what I understand, the only drawback is that they are a little runnier than the original OPI formula. The advantage: the polish dries in just one minute.
Singer and actress Selena Gomez posed for pictures at the 2009 American Music Awards with a pretty pink smile on her face. She took advantage of the occasion and went glam; wearing a Talbot Runhof sequin dress with black strappy heels.
