Being the habitual browser that I am, I couldn't help but try out this hip new lip product from Styli-Style called Hipstick ($7.99). The bright packaging, the fun name and the shiny product oozing through the felt-tip applicator were too enticing to resist.
And the texture is equally as exciting. It's incredibly creamy and sheer, falling somewhere between a lipstick and a gloss. It's even fun to apply. Just twist the base and watch the color filter to the top. The soft, angled tip is contoured to fit your lip, making the application foolproof and smooth.
The only drawback is that it doesn't last as long as I'd like. It seems like the more often you rub your lips together, the faster it vanishes into your skin. While it's wonderfully moisturizing, when I apply color to my lips, I'd like it to stick around, or else I'd just as soon wear a lip balm. But if you're interested, Hipstick is available in 12 colors ranging from neutral nudes to deep berries and is available in drugstores.
My buddy nancita sent me an interesting article featuring images of a female artist who has a skin condition called dermatographia. This means that her skin frequently breaks out into red, itchy and sometimes blistery hives. The hives are caused by a sensitivity to scratching. When the skin becomes irritated, histamines are released which causes swelling. When this occurs, the artist claims she can "painlessly draw patterns and words on my skin, which I then photograph."
If you are looking at these pictures and thinking that it's a little bit gross, yet a little bit pretty, I couldn't agree more.
I really respect how she turned something that would make most feel self-conscious into something interesting to look at. I'm just glad to hear that it doesn't hurt. If that were the case, it would be considered more like self-mutilation than anything else. What do think of skin art?
The results from our last Rebecca Gayheart poll suggest that you prefer when she wears her hair wavy. But how do you feel about straight and short? It looks like girlfriend has jumped on "The Pob" (Posh bob) bandwagon and got herself an angled bob. She showed it off this week at the G Star Fashion Show wearing hubby Dane on her arm as her cutest accessory. Do you like Rebecca's hair better long or bobbed?
It may be cold outside, but the daily giveaways are heating up. My friends at Sephora are focusing on beautiful skin: how to get it and how to keep it.
Today's giveaway is for Kinerase Cream. This deeply hydrating, gentle cream for normal to dry skin is formulated to provide superior moisture for skin that's been photo-damaged, retinoid intolerant, or sensitive. It visibly improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, brightens and evens the overall tone and color of the skin.

Nothing makes an outfit pop like a splash of color, and the designers showing at this year's fall Fashion Week in New York are taking that to the extreme. By using bright, exotic colors on the eyes, they're keeping the otherwise subtle, muted collections fresh and fun. Check out a rundown of the daring looks in my slideshow!
It's been a while since we've seen Marc Jacobs as subdued as he was at this year's presentation of his Marc by Marc Jacobs line at Fall New York Fashion Week. (What, no reverse-heeled shoes?) While I love that he chose to use pretty and flattering shades of pink on his model's lips, the otherwise bare faces and slicked-back ponytails do little to spice up the overall look. What do you think of this toned-down Marc? Simple and pretty, or a little too blah for your taste?
I smelled the most divine fragrance over the weekend at a swank boutique called Joseph. From what I understand, the Joseph brand is hugely popular in the UK, but it also has two stores here in New York. Joseph Parfum de Jour was co-created with clothing designer Joseph Ettedgui and British fragrance company Penhaligon's.
It initially launched in 1985 and was improved and re-released in 1997. While it is made from jasmine, rose, hyacinth, muguet, ylang ylang, sandalwood, and amber, when my nose-in-training takes a deep, long sniff, I smell mostly jasmine and spices.
The bottle and the packaging are minimal and simple. They were designed by Terasa Roviras, who drew on the inspiration from Joseph’s love of women and black and white photography. Overall, the fragrance is feminine, sexy, and medium-bodied, which makes for a sexy olfactory cocktail to match the fabulous array of cocktail attire the store also has to offer.
Joseph Parfum de Jour is available in 50ml ($69) and 100 ml ($100). You can purchase them in any of the UK boutiques, in the two New York boutiques, or by calling the stores directly.
Kristin Cavallari went with a black-lace, bra-baring top at The Breeders' Cup Winners Circle Event in LA. She paired it with black skinny pants, and kept things neutral with beige patent pumps and a matching clutch.
