2009 Independent Spirit Awards Poll

The always quirky and adorable Zooey Deschanel looked just that as she walked the red carpet at the Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday afternoon. She wore her hair long and wavy, with wispy bangs. It's an understated look, but she did add a touch of whimsy with the simple braid across the crown of her head. She added a brooch as a finishing touch. As for the makeup, she kept it light and airy, with a melon lip and lightly pinched cheeks. I think it works for this indie awards show. Do you?

Quite a few ladies are feeling blue at the Independent Spirit Awards today. Michelle Monaghan graced the also blue carpet wearing a dreamy shift dress. The contrasting silk striations add a cool texture to her look and I like how she cinched in her waistline with a matching thin belt. Gold and silver metallic sandals, stacked bangles, and a matching clutch complete her. Simple, yet fun; do you like it?

First off, I didn't mention I had an Elizabeth and James conversation with Mary-Kate at Fashion Week — stay tuned for more on that! In the meantime, Mary-Kate showed up in what appears to be a vintage frock. Leave it to the risk-taker to rock wide shoulders and tons of jewels. Never one to be matchy matchy, she also incorporated a white clutch and nude sandals. Love it or hate it?

I knew something was different about this picture of Taraji but couldn't quite put my finger on it when suddenly it hit me: she switched it up! We usually see her bangs swept to the left, but they go the other way here and, with her hair more curled under, this totally changes her look and accentuates the roundness of her face.

On the makeup front, she's coming up roses – rosy cheeks, lips, and even lids – with thin liner and well-defined lashes. Are you loving this look or were you hoping for something more?
