Trend Alert: Citrus Sinensis

Get ready to get revitalized with a taste of citrus sinensis.

Get ready to get revitalized with a taste of citrus sinensis. So it's January, even more reason to take a bite out of orange, tangerine, sherbert or blood orange. To pair with brown or black is the question. Yes and yes is the answer. I wouldn't go metallic (maybe bronze?), so keep your brown and blacks minimal and chic. Preferably, I like some citrus sinensis with some skin — case in point Aisha Tyler in Kenneth Cole at the Cloverfield premiere.

One Premiere Of Kevin Bacon

Kevin Bacon brought his adorable 15-year-old Sosie to the premiere of his new movie, Death Sentence.

Kevin Bacon brought his adorable 15-year-old Sosie to the premiere of his new movie, Death Sentence. Kelly Preston and John Travolta were in the house, too, though I'm still kinda trying to block out his cameo at the Teen Choice Awards. Another of the film's stars, Aisha Taylor, looked smashing in her LBD, but this is just one of her fashion hits this week -- on Tuesday night she looked great in green and gold (though maybe went a little matchy with the eye makeup). It's hard not to love Kevin Bacon, so I'm looking forward to seeing more of him in one of this Fall's Movies About Families -- though his sounds pretty seriously sad. Tissues may be necessary.

Love It or Hate It? Aisha Tyler's Glazed, Gold-and-Green Eyes

Remember how I told you that patina eye shadow was the big new trend?

Remember how I told you that patina eye shadow was the big new trend? Aisha Tyler batted her eyes at Planet Hollywood in Times Square yesterday, matching them with her hammered gold earrings. (If you like Aisha's outfit, check out Fab's breakdown of what she's wearing.) What do you think?

Celebrity Style: Aisha Tyler

Aisha Tyler attended the Handprint Ceremony at Planet Hollywood in Times Square in this green Moschino Cheap and Chic keyhole dress.

Aisha Tyler attended the Handprint Ceremony at Planet Hollywood in Times Square in this green Moschino Cheap and Chic keyhole dress. I am a fan of the keyhole - especially when they're not too revealing. The dress would have been more flattering if it were slightly shorter but she still works it! The green hue also accentuates Aisha's beautiful skin.

Where Are All the Female-Led Comedic Movies?

Having recently seen the screenings of Superbad and Hot Rod and having also enjoyed Knocked Up earlier this summer, I have found myself wondering where the comedies written by, directed by or focusing on women have been hiding.

Having recently seen the screenings of Superbad and Hot Rod and having also enjoyed Knocked Up earlier this summer, I have found myself wondering where the comedies written by, directed by or focusing on women have been hiding. Not counting younger fare like the Amanda Bynes-style comedies (the upcoming Sydney White, for example), where are the lady equivalents to Superbad, or even Blades of Glory? I really enjoyed Superbad, actually, but this summer feels like it's pretty heavy on the dude humor.

So I was intrigued to come across a Popwatch post yesterday which referred to an article in Siren Magazine asking these same questions. More specifically, the writer on Siren wonders why there aren't more star vehicle projects for some of the funny women who are out there right now, like Aisha Tyler, Amy Poehler, Wanda Sykes, and Amy Sedaris. I would add to that list some of my favorite funny ladies, like Isla Fisher, Maya Rudolph, Jenna Fischer, Cheryl Hines and even Kristen Bell.

Some of the best female-led comedies in recent years for me have been Waitress and Mean Girls, though for whatever reason neither of these movies has enjoyed the kind of success that movies like Knocked Up have had. The future looks bright, though: Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are working on their comedy Baby Mama, and Isla Fisher will star in a Girl Scout-themed flick called The Cookie Queen. And, of course, there's the exciting news about the Shopaholic movie. Maybe this is just Judd Apatow's summer, and we'll get ours next year.

What about you? What funny ladies would you like to see given more meaty screen time?
