Having long, straight hair means plenty of heat damage and inevitable static once the puffer coat comes out. But this season, I've finally found a way to nourish my hair without the added grease that easily builds up on my finer strands. Ojon Rare Blend Oil Rejuvenating Therapy Lightweight Texture ($35) has three lightweight oils: Tahitian monoi, jasmine, and the brand's signature ojon oil. Shake it up and add a couple drops to wet hair before you style for added protection. Plus, the fast-absorbing formula can even add shine and tame my hair's flyaways when it's dry. As a beauty editor who fears hair products, I think I've found my match.
Two things everyone wants more of: sleep and clearer skin. Even better when you can get both at once. The brainchild of makeup artist Munemi Imai, Mun No.1 Aknari Nighttime Dream Youth Serum ($95) brings beauty sleep to a whole other realm. Made with prickly pear seed oil, an antioxidant that helps reduce fine lines, skin is left softened, brightened, and protected from damage free radicals can bring. Rose oil lightly scents and rejuvenates a distressed complexion, while argan oil quells redness. This beauty oil blend is lightweight enough to be worn during the day, and creates the perfect base to wear under foundation. It's even gentle enough for those afflicted with acne, like yours truly. Go ahead and set that wake-up alarm a bit ahead; this beauty oil's got some work to do.

I don't even know who my skin is lately. We used to be pretty tight, laughing all the time, doing makeup together, and having a great time. Well, it's like my skin heard Fall was coming and decided that would be an excellent time to freak out and lose its mind. My skin has always been on the dry side, but it was suddenly full of dry flakes. I started breaking out all over and my foundation just looked gross due to my skin's sudden alligator texture.
It was truly time for some skin rehab! Believe it or not, oils can become your skin's new best friend and initiate a skintervention. Here are some wonderful ones, where I use them, and why.
If dandruff is one of your primary hair concerns, then one secret weapon to keep in your arsenal is the Jason Tea Tree Oil ($15). Officially dubbed melaleuca alternifolia, tea tree oil is a natural antibacterial that can help relieve multiple beauty issues from flakes to acne and even eczema. This particular brand is 100 percent organic and certified by the USDA.
To get the hair benefits, you can add a few drops to your shampoo to give your wash a tingling effect. If you have dry scalp or flaky patches, shake a bit into coconut or olive oil for a quick soothing balm. For skin, mix up a mask with honey, tea tree, and yogurt to remedy a breakout fast. We have to warn you that the scent is powerful (think Vicks VapoRub), but that is what gives tea tree its cold-killing properties. Put a dash in a pot of boiling water and breathe in the steam to knock out congestion. We are hesitant to say that anything is a cure-all, but tea tree oil has a special place in our DIY beauty recipes.
The weather has been hot and humid (already) in New York City, and while adding an oil to your beauty routine might seem counterintuitive, just wait until you try Tatcha Gold Camellia Beauty Oil ($125). Its lightweight formulation includes camellia oil for nourishment, licorice extract to calm skin, and squalene for added hydration. Plus, the flakes of 24-karat gold add a decadent touch to the whole experience. But what makes this bottle so magical is that it's truly multipurpose. I use it on freshly cleansed skin for a lighter moisturizer day and night; I rub it all over my body after the shower for radiant, smooth skin; and I use it on the ends of my hair to combat dry, frizzy strands. The lipid structure of camellia oil is similar to that of your skin, so it's easily absorbed, it won't clog pores, and you're not left with a greasy feeling. This bottle of beauty elixir has streamlined my Summer beauty regimen down to one quick fix.
