The Surprisingly Simple Way to Get Naturally Flushed Lips

Nothing screams natural beauty quite like luscious lips with a hint of I-was-born-with-it color.

Nothing screams natural beauty quite like luscious lips with a hint of I-was-born-with-it color. Aussie actress Bella Heathcote proved that a tinted lip look is quite lovely because it gives you a healthier-looking flush than standard lipstick. You can easily get this pretty pout with products already in your makeup bag. Before applying any lip color, apply a thin layer of lip balm to your lips, like Smith's Rosebud Salve ($6). Next, use your ring finger to press in a rosy-pink shade of lipstick. Blot with a tissue and then press a little bit of balm on top of your lip color for a hint of shine. Simple, see?

3 Fresh Ways to Wear a Slicked-Back Ponytail

Textured, mussed-up ponytails have taken a back seat to slicker styles recently, but that doesn't mean your updo has to be boring.

Textured, mussed-up ponytails have taken a back seat to slicker styles recently, but that doesn't mean your updo has to be boring. As Bella Heathcote, Kate Bosworth, and Whitney Port have proudly displayed, there are a handful of gorgeous ways to style your ponytail while keeping it off your face:

  1. Bella went for a liquid-slicked version, pulling her hair back completely without a part. Her low-volume style allowed her flirty winged liner ample room to shine.
  2. Kate Bosworth added some oomph to her updo by brushing the sides back but teasing her crown. A bright pink lipstick color gave some balance — and a serious pop of color — to her amplified ponytail.
  3. Whitney opted for a low ponytail with a center-split part that drew attention to her subtle smoky eye and dewy complexion.

However you decided to style your tightly pulled-back hairstyle, you'll need some hair spray to keep it put; reach for something lightweight, like Frederic Fekkai Advanced Sheer Hold Hairspray ($25).

Trend Alert: Kiss-the-Brow Bangs

Full-on fringe is a fashionable way to update your beauty look.

Full-on fringe is a fashionable way to update your beauty look. But inasmuch as bangs have leaned longer for seasons now, this Fall, a number of stars have been wearing them just above the brow line. Note Taraji P. Henson's version; her choppy brow-grazers are a great option for breaking up the heavy line of a blunt bang. Bella Heathcote's tapered variety frame the eyes beautifully, while Jessica Biel's subtly teeter in length to complement her tousled waves. And the best part about this kiss-the-brow style? No more mascara transfer from lash to fringe.

This Week's Best Dressed

The Summer may be winding down, but that didn't stop this week's chicest from showing off their warm-weather best.
Best-Dressed Models and Celebrities Week of August 20, 2012

The Summer may be winding down, but that didn't stop this week's chicest from showing off their warm-weather best. At the premiere of Lawless in Los Angeles, Bella Heathcote was super sleek in a subtly printed dress from Jonathan Saunders's Resort 2013 collection, while at the premiere of Bachelorette, Kirsten Dunst's ruffled blue Resort 2013 Jean Paul Gaultier looked both glamorous and breezy. Perhaps the most beguiling look of the week was Gwyneth Paltrow's teal tweed minidress at the screening of End of Watch in East Hampton — although it's hard to imagine any ensemble looking horrible when Jake Gyllenhaal is at your side.

Those looks — plus Jennifer Missoni's pastel zigzags at the premiere of Lawless (left) — and more, here in our weekly best-of roundup.

Bella Heathcote Enjoys Her Fringe Benefits

Bella Heathcote is on top of her bang game, and it's not just because her hair always looks flawless.

Bella Heathcote is on top of her bang game, and it's not just because her hair always looks flawless. The actress proves time and time again that a striking style needs a great makeup palette to complement it. At last night's GenArt party at the Chateau Marmont, Bella pulled off a fresh-faced look, which her glossy fringe framed faultlessly. Since her bangs already drew plenty of attention to her big blue eyes, Bella opted for a shimmery beige eye shadow and a swipe of black mascara to add just the right amount of brightness. To balance out her heavy bangs, Bella swiped a light pink blush onto the apples of her cheeks and finished off the look with a light coral lipstick with just a touch of shine. Try MAC Vegas Volt ($15) for a similar shade. When it comes to pairing your makeup with your bangs, take a page from Bella's book. Balance is the key, so play up one feature at a time to avoid looking too chaotic.

3 Ways to Style a Bun With Bangs

Need a new way to make your fringe look even hotter for any nighttime occasion?

Need a new way to make your fringe look even hotter for any nighttime occasion? Steal these bun-styling ideas from the likes of Bella Heathcote, Krysten Ritter, and Lea Michele, then. The bun is quickly becoming a go-to red-carpet updo because it can be polished and neat (like Bella's chignon) or a little messy (as with Krysten's high-on-top ballet bun). But one way to really stand out with this style is to try a braided version similar to Lea's, which turns a simple knot into something more complex and bohemian chic. Need more inspiration? Watch our step-by-step tutorial to getting a similar braided bun seen on Charlize Theron, and add a touch of fringe for a modern appeal.
