As a red-carpet staple, each and every one of Jennifer Lopez's looks is memorable. "Her style is very much her own, but like her career, it is versatile and multilayered," explains Rob Zangardi, who is one-half of the styling duo behind Jennifer's red-carpet, tour, and American Idol looks. Speaking of layers, he and stylist Mariel Haenn share the same packing secrets they use for Jennifer's travels in the video above. Plus, the two experts dish even more about Jennifer's style and beauty and a few details on her latest fragrance, when you keep reading.
Beyoncé is already a busy bee in 2013. Somewhere between the inauguration lip-syncing debate and practicing for her Super Bowl performance this Sunday, the superstar found time to shoot this behind-the-scenes look at her new scent. Pulse NYC is her fifth fragrance launching later this year. If you hadn't guessed, it's inspired by the energy of the Big Apple.
The video shares a sneak peek of the print ad featuring Beyoncé in a slinky metallic number in front of the city skyline. With the opening shots of the streets of New York, we wonder if this is a glimpse into her upcoming HBO documentary, Life Is But a Dream. You'll have to wait until Feb. 19 to see inside her life. But watch this short flick to learn personal details about the songstress, like her New York accent and her favorite color (as if you didn't already know).
Rihanna has had a big year in the music industry, including a No. 1 album, Unapologetic, along with winning the video of the year for "We Found Love" at the MTV Video Music Awards. But that's not the only industry she's taking by storm. Rihanna launched her third fragrance, Nude, over the weekend. Watch now to see the singer talk about which feature she prefers to play up, as well as why her new perfume is like "waking up in the morning naked." On Kirbie Johnson: H&M leopard top.
Nude is available exclusively in Macy's stores.
Jessica Simpson may be known for her vocal talents and bubbly personality, but the star has really made a name for herself in the fashion world. The Jessica Simpson Collection features an array of clothing items and accessories and has even extended into kids' wear, for which Jessica and her sister, Ashlee Simpson, paired up to promote at an Orange County Macy's over the weekend.
Of course, it wouldn't be a Jessica-backed company without some beauty products thrown into the mix. Jessica has launched five fragrances since 2008, with Vintage Bloom eau de parfum ($49-$65) being the most recent. The sheer floral contains notes of lemon, Caipirinha lime zest, peony, raspberry blossom, sandalwood, and musk. "Creating Vintage Bloom came about in a time in my life when everything was feeling very organic and new," Jessica says. "Everything felt like a beginning, and that's how this scent smells to me." See what else the new mom had to say about developing the perfume, as well as a surprising fact about her past, when you read more.
Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen have already taken the fashion world by storm with their designs, and now the duo is tackling the beauty arena with a new fragrance deal. Mary-Kate and Ashley will debut an Elizabeth and James-branded scent this March at Sephora. "We look forward to bringing the modern perspective and fashion philosophy of Elizabeth and James designers Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen to life with this prestige fragrance," Michael McGeever of Sephora Originals, told WWD. This isn't the Olsen's first foray into beauty, however. Previously they orchestrated beauty launches for Walmart including fragrances and body sprays. But while those were aimed at a more youthful audience, this Elizabeth and James collaboration is sure to be all grown up. This announcement comes after their stellar Spring 2013 showing at New York Fashion Week, and it will be interesting to see how they translate their casual-chic design aesthetic into aromatic notes.
Lady Gaga debuts her first fragrance, Fame, this August, and in true Gaga fashion, she didn't create any ordinary perfume. The eau de parfum is black — the first of its kind — and comes out clear when applied. Last week, Lady Gaga unveiled a preview of the ad campaign for Fame, and now she has just released a video showcasing how the juice was made. Watch to see the secrets behind the sexy scent.
Musician Jon Bon Jovi is known for a lot of things: '80s rock anthems, perfectly coiffed hair, and tight leather pants, just to name a few. But now the artist can add another title to his list of accomplishments: fragrance man. Avon has tapped Bon Jovi to be the face of two new scents: Unplugged For Her and Him.
Both Bon Jovi and Avon are committed to charitable work, so this seemingly random pairing may be a match made in heaven. "[Avon's] philosophy of empowerment sends a strong message and I'm pleased to partner with them," Bon Jovi said in a statement. Unplugged For Him is slated for release in November and contains notes of wood and musk. But look out for Unplugged For Her — available in October — which is a more floral, oriental scent. That sounds just as tempting as singing along to "Living on a Prayer" at karaoke night.
Jennifer Lopez has accomplished many things in her career, and last night she celebrated another major milestone. The signer, dancer, and beauty icon was feted by her fragrance partner, Coty, at an intimate party to mark the 10-year anniversary of her first scent, Glow. Since its release, Glow has garnered a whopping $1 billion in retail sales, won numerous awards, and was the foundation to which the House of Jennifer Lopez — which includes 18 fragrances in total — was built upon.
According to Jennifer, her newest scent, Glowing, was "created to pay homage to the fragrance that set it all up for us." Glowing's bottle is Baccarat crystal-inspired and lights up when the actuator is pressed. (Even Jennifer's four-foot celebratory cake, which Coty presented to her after the press conference, lit up on the top layer.) In addition, the fragrance is prominently placed in the hot new video for her latest single, "Dance Again," following Jen's sexy dance sequence with boyfriend and fellow dancer Casper Smart. The pair are embarking on an international tour this Summer, and when asked what beauty item she'll bring on the road, Jen replied, "Sunscreen!"
She has done nail polish with OPI and makeup with MAC, and now Nicki Minaj is headed into the arena of scents. Nicki's debut fragrance will launch through Give Back Brands LLC (the same company that released Justin Bieber's Someday), WWD reports. "I have always been a huge fan of great fragrances," Nicki said. "This is yet another extension of my creative expression. I designed the scent and bottle with my Barbz in mind." Her Barbz (fans, for those who don't speak Minaj) won't have to wait long; the scent will arrive this Fall.
Nicki's funky and ever-changing style garnered her the first BellaSugar Best Trendsetter Award. No word on what the juice will smell like or how the bottle will be designed, but if we had to guess there will be plenty of pink — and a little cheetah print, of course.
Yes, Snooki actually does have an eponymous perfume out right now, but this "commercial" she made with Funny or Die is better than any real ad could hope to be. There's chess, melodrama, fancy Champagne, constantly falling monocles, and at least one delicious dill pickle. It's a little slow to start, but the last 30 seconds or so are hilarious, especially if you're a longtime Jersey Shore follower.
It's always nice to see a celebrity who has a sense of humor about herself, and Snooki is such a good sport that it's hard not to like her. Whether you're a fan of celebrity fragrance or not, you have to admit that Snooki (the perfume) just got a whole lot more appealing. If this spot is any indication, a lot of people are going to be getting some in their stockings this holiday season.
