Blush is an often underrated must have in any makeup bag. Many worry it can venture into clown territory, but when you choose the right shade and product for your skin type, it can give you a nice glow, accentuate your cheekbones, and bring out the color of your eyes. Summer Makeup Tips: How to Do More With Less
These 5 Bright Pink Blushes Keeps Winter Cheeks Bright
That healthy flush celebrities get this time of year isn't just from Golden Globe nomination excitement. Bright pink blush has long been a cold-weather makeup kit staple because of its ability to give any wearer a rosy flush that looks like you just came inside from making snow angels. And because it's pink, not red or brown, your skin doesn't look ruddy or wind-burned. Depending on your skin tone, you'll want a bright pink with either a tad more purple (cool tones) or orange (warm tones), though both dark and fair skin look amazing in a highly pigmented, eye-popping bright pink. To see which shade suits you best, just click through.
Reader Review of the Day: Stila Convertible Color
I love combination lip and cheek colors. There's no better way to get a natural, pretty flush, and that's why I was glad to see reader Medgrl726's smart, informative review of Stila Convertible Color ($25). (Celebrity makeup artist Brett Freedman is also a fan.) Medgrl725 tells us:
I'm almost out of my Stila Convertible Color, and felt compelled to talk up its mileage for all this time. The creamy color has rich pigment, so just a dab does the trick on cheeks and lips. I find that it lasts longer when I'm wearing a sweep of powder blush over it, but no powder can fake the beautiful, rich flush this cream produces. It has lasted me a while, so though the price is steep, it's worth it if you crave a high-quality cream blush.

Reader Review of the Day: The Body Shop Lip and Cheek Stain
Reader Fashion_doll24 thinks that The Body Shop's Lip and Cheek Stain ($14) is a purse essential. Formulated for all skin tones, this multitasking gel formula gives a wash of color to cheeks and lips. Take it away, Fashion_doll24:
I'm a big fan of this stain, mainly because I'm not good at finding the right shade of lip gloss for my complexion, and this is definitely a case of "one shade fits all." Also, I like the fact that your lips don't feel sticky as they will when using a gloss. I rarely use it on my cheeks, not because the color is off or anything but because I prefer a powder blush.

Benefit Posietint: A Review and Photo
Those of you who love Benefit's cult-favorite lip and cheek stain, Benetint, will be excited to know about Posietint ($28). Like its big sister Benetint, Posietint is a liquid stain that goes on with a brush. The difference is that instead of giving a reddish flush to lips and cheeks, Posietint gives a sheer pink wash of color. When you see it, you'll understand why it's not packaged in a clear bottle; the stain is the color of Pepto Bismol. Never fear, though: when it's blended into skin, it looks like a natural flush of color.

New Product Alert: Vincent Longo Pearlessence Gel Stains
These new Vincent Longo Pearlessence Gel Stains ($22.50) are slightly different from the other cheek tints on the market because they are infused with shimmer. They are also water-resistant and sweat-proof which makes them perfect for beach beauty!
They are truly long-lasting, they give you a natural-looking glow and they can be used as both a cheek or a lip stain. That's all great, but the only issue I have is that you have to work quickly to blend before they dry. Once the color sets, you're pretty much stuck with it all day. My advice is to apply to one cheek at a time and start off lightly, since you can always add more.
The stains are available in three colors:
- Bellini Love: warm, shimmery pink
- Dolceacqua: shimmery plum
- Fresh Water Rose shimmery silver-plum
I recommend using Bellini Love while summer's still going strong, then going with one of the plum shades for fall. It's not too far away, you know!
