With Thanksgiving and Hanukkah falling in the same week, we decided to give the glitter ombré manicure a festive twist. A deep navy hue is the perfect base for any Winter holiday; we used CoverGirl Nail Gloss in Sapphire Flare ($5). Creating a glitter ombré is easy when you already have a glitter top coat like Essie Set in Stones ($9). Apply the chunky silver glitter from the middle point of your nail, and then add two to three coats on the tips to create the gradient effect. To give our glittering manicure a seasonal update, we sealed in the look with a matte topcoat using Ciaté Mattnificent ($17). The velvety finish is a fun twist on the sparkling look. But even without a matte finish, the glossy version (below) is still an easy look to pull off just in time for Thanksgiving and Hanukkah.
The holiday season is all about celebrating, but it's also the biggest time of the year for stunning, limited-edition palettes and gift sets! Appropriately, National Chocolate Day is only a few days from Halloween, and while we already have bags of miniature chocolate bars tucked in our cabinets (for the trick-or-treaters, of course), we'll be indulging with a few calorie-free options in the form of beauty products. So if your guilty pleasure is a chocolaty confection, you can satisfy your sweet tooth in the form of delightfully flavored powders, balms, and more, like the ice-cream-flavored Lip Smacker Mini Milk Chocolate Lip Balm ($6) above. When it comes to Summer manicures, bold and bright shades always do the trick, but making sure a sexy red is in your repertoire is important as well. These seven shades fit any budget and look great whether you're headed to the office or are gearing up for a fun night out. Polishes featured: Pixi Polish in Summer Pink ($8); Salon Perfect in Zapped ($4); POP Beauty Nail Glam in Violetta ($10); China Glaze in Sun of a Peach ($8); Nicole OPI in Hit the Lights ($7); Essie in Lollipop; ($8); and Ciaté Corrupted Neons Set in Foam Party ($25).
Ciaté is known for taking the nail-art trend from the streets to the comfort of your own home with its easy DIY kits, like this Very Colourfoil Manicure Set ($25). The end result is a colorful and intricate design that looks far more complicated than it really is. To see how to use this genius kit, just keep reading.
Looking for a way to jazz up your holiday manicure? Take a style cue from Jessica Biel and go for full-on texture. The actress arrived at the premiere of Hitchcock with a deliciously decadent caviar manicure. The silver beads paired perfectly with her ornate Oscar de la Renta trouser-and-blouse combination.
While Jessica opted to give every finger the textured treatment, you can try a more subtle take on this with one accent nail. Try the Ciaté Caviar Manicure Set in Mother of Pearl ($25) for a similar feel to Jessica's nail art. Start off by painting each nail with the pearlescent white polish. Following the packaging's instructions, apply the beads to the ring finger only. You'll have a standout manicure that isn't too over the top. Now if only we had an engagement ring as lush as Jessica's to match!
A favorite of Adele's, the line is five-free (no formaldehyde, toluene, DBP, formaldehyde resin, or camphor), and will be available in select shades of varying finishes. If that wasn't enough, word is that the brand's much buzzed-about caviar manicure sets will be coming to the States, too. Champagne wishes . . .
Instead, it's a gorgeous raspberry that has plenty of pigment without being too over the top. This is one serious product; it's shinier, thicker, and more intensely colored than your average lip gloss. Plus, it's the perfect choice for keeping that post-warm-weather glow going. Just add a bronzer, rose-toned blush and shadow, and a warm brown eyeliner for a sun-kissed effect.
