Get Michelle Williams's New Light Blond Hair Color

Yesterday, the majority of you voted that you love Michelle Williams's new haircut and color that she debuted at Cannes. And we have the scoop straight from her colorist, Marie Robinson, on the how and why behind Michelle's pretty almost-platinum look. So why the new color? Marie says that shorter hair, especially a pixie, looks great in a lighter hue, so she took Michelle's color up a couple of levels to get a really standout effect.

She also had a little advice on how to get Michelle's color without a trip to the salon, and told us that if "your hair is a light brown to light blond shade, it's easy to achieve this at home — try Clairol Perfect 10 Flaxen in a Flash ($9) to get the right shade of extra light blond."

Do You Think There's an Ideal Age For Happiness?

I found the results of this study dubious, and then I read that Clairol Perfect 10 sponsored the research, asking 4,000 women between ages 25 and 65 at what age they were happiest.

The answer? 28, before visible aging occurs (wrinkles, gray hair — you know, the things Clairol has products for) and when sex is supposed to be best. (Wait, I thought sex was best for women in their 30s and 40s?) In addition to being happiest with their looks in their late 20s, the women surveyed said their careers and relationships were best in the 28 to 30 range.

A spokesperson for Clairol Perfect 10 said, "A little time put aside in hectic schedules for self-pampering and the odd beauty product can help keep you feeling young and looking your best." Riiiight.

What do you think — is there an ideal age for happiness?

Reader Review of the Day: Clairol Professional Shimmer Lights Shampoo

Reader Nycbeauty9349 has been one reviewing machine!

Reader Nycbeauty9349 has been one reviewing machine! Her latest post focuses on color-enhancing shampoo, a great product to use to freshen up both natural and color-treated locks. What did she have to say about Clairol's Professional Shimmer Lights Shampoo ($8.80)? Find out below:

This is my favorite toning shampoo. Every hair color — dyed, highlighted, or natural — fades and gets brassy from time-to-time. This is the only at-home product I've ever used (gloss, color-focused shampoo, etc.) that I've seen an actual result with. I usually lather up twice and let the second round sit for a few minutes while I tend to my other shower-related duties. When I dry my hair afterwards, it looks like I've gotten it freshly touched up at the salon. It's been my life saver as both a redhead and a blonde.

New Hair Color Aims For a Perfect 10

Clairol has just launched Perfect 10, a new line of at-home hair coloring.

Clairol has just launched Perfect 10, a new line of at-home hair coloring. "Big deal," you might be thinking. "It's all the same stuff, more or less." Oh, but it's not!

Unlike its predecessors, Perfect 10 dyes hair quickly—so quickly, in fact, that the color is done in just 10 minutes. And while you might imagine this process would be harsh on hair, it's actually much less damaging than other dyes. Its pH is lower, so it strips less of the hair's lipid coating; additionally, the gentler formula makes hair less likely to break. (Check out some explanatory photos here.)

Priced at $13.99, it's available in 14 shades. In addition, it has a cool application brush that looks like it could be fun to use. Check out the gallery of available colors here, and let me know if any of you try it. If it's actually able to deliver faster, rich color without damaging hair, this might be something huge.

Ziploc Bag Beauty, Part I: Maximize Your Baggie

Unless you've been living under a rock, you've probably heard about the latest carry-on regulations from the Transportation Security Administration: All of the liquids in your carry-on luggage must be in bottles 3-ounces or smaller, and those must be sealed in a single quart-sized Ziploc bag.
