What We're Sweet On: An Acne-Fighting Brush Head

Since I've made 2013 the year that I finally clear up my skin, I've pulled out all the stops when it comes to my face washing regimen, including joining the Clarisonic cult.

Since I've made 2013 the year that I finally clear up my skin, I've pulled out all the stops when it comes to my face washing regimen, including joining the Clarisonic cult. But the brush head is where all the magic happens, and Clarisonic's Acne Cleansing Brush Head ($25) might very well be a miracle worker. The velvet-smooth bristles slough off dead skin cells, and the sonic movements work to release clogged pores, leaving you with a face that's smoother, clearer, and more receptive to your acne medication. Almost immediately my skin was noticeably clearer, and when I do break out, you better believe those suckers clear up in two days or less. Acne sufferers, you'll want to start sipping this Kool-Aid.

What We're Sweet On: A Brush For the Blemished

Countless praises have been sung for Clarisonic, the cult-favorite sonic skin cleansing brush.

Countless praises have been sung for Clarisonic, the cult-favorite sonic skin cleansing brush. But until now, the acne-addled haven't had a version that targets their complexion condition. Enter the newest incarnation of the Mia 2 brush and salicylic acid-infused cleanser ($169), which aims to keep blemishes at bay. We gave the brush a spin (courtesy of public relations), and like the original, it removes the dirt and makeup that doesn't always come off through washing by hands alone. The new brush head ($25) is softer than the original, though, and it's especially gentle for anyone who's experiencing stubborn blackheads or painful nodules. While no product will produce flawless skin overnight, with consistent use, having clearer skin may only be a matter of time.

Hey Girl, Bid on This Ryan Gosling-Signed Clarisonic

Do you love Ryan Gosling?

Do you love Ryan Gosling? Have you been in the market for a new Clarisonic? Then honey, have I got a deal for you. Right now, Charitybuzz is auctioning off a Clarisonic Hope Mia signed by none other than Mr. Blue Valentine himself. The lot doesn't close until Feb. 28, so you have plenty of time to put in your bid.

The total proceeds from the auction will go to Look Good . . . Feel Better, a nonprofit that "helps women with cancer look good, improve their self-esteem, and thereby manage their treatment and recovery with greater confidence."

It's a great cause, and just think about having Ryan whirring gently against your cheek each morning and night. If you're somehow not into the Gos (it's apostasy, but whatever), there are also currently auctions for a bunch of other cool signed Clarisonics from Lady Gaga, Nicole Richie, and Zoe Saldana, among others.

Have You Been Using More DIY Products in the Past Year?

Apparently, on the other side of the pond, British women are ditching medispa and salon services for a wide variety of at-home gadgets that promise similar results.

Apparently, on the other side of the pond, British women are ditching medispa and salon services for a wide variety of at-home gadgets that promise similar results. Americans have also seen more home-use beauty tech lately, from the Clarisonic to the SensEpil I'm testing right now, but I'm not sure the shift has been as big. Given the recession, it makes sense that more women would be treating themselves at home, but given the high price of a lot of the gadgets on the market, there's clearly still plenty of money being spent on professional services. I'm curious to know: are you trying more DIY products now than you did in the past?
