Cindy Sherman, one of the most famous artists of the last century, has posed for photos promoting MAC's Fall Color Collection. The photographer and filmmaker (known for transforming herself through wigs, prosthetics and makeup) is seen wearing three distinct "faces" for the collection. Each represents a group of lipsticks, eyeliners, eyeshadows and other beauty essentials that can be used to create a look that's avant garde, classic or somewhere in between. Though Sherman is not involved with the creation of the collection, her likeness has definitely garnered tons of attention for it. The new products launch Sept. 29. Vincent Longo Cosmetics Set to Make a Big Comeback
Due in part to a failing economy back in 2008, Vincent Longo Cosmetics was eventually forced to pull its products from the shelves of retail giants such as Sephora, Neiman Marcus, Fred Segal, and Nordstrom. Space NK, however, still kept the indie brand's stock in supply. But now, Vincent Longo is set to make a big comeback.
Last year, the company began selling its products in CVS Pharmacy's Beauty 360. And with a new investor in place, Vincent Longo himself is now again able to work on what he's known for: creating innovative, stand-out formulations.
He'll completely revamp everything except for complexion products. New items will include Liquid Concealer ($28), formulated with arnica and peptides to reduce dark circles and puffiness; Pearl X Eyeshadows ($25), baked shadows with speckled colors; and Perfect Shine V Gloss ($22), glimmery pearl lip colors that add temporary volume. To see what other brand is also making moves to rise from the ashes, just keep reading.
Minx Launches New Celebrity Manicurist-Designed Collections

You've probably admired the nails of stars like Beyoncé Knowles, Lady Gaga, and Rihanna, and here's your chance to get in on the action. Minx has just launched a new professional line of celebrity manicurist-designed nail art ($5 to $10 above traditional Minx manicures). Last month, manicurist Lisa Logan, who has decorated the nails of stars like Beyoncé and Mary J. Blige, debuted her own Minx collection, which features eight colorful, geometric designs. And this week, Marian Newman, who has worked with brands like Givenchy and Vivienne Westwood, is set to release her own line, where chromes and graduated colors are the focal points in her eight-piece collection.
That's not all. Naja Rickette, the person responsible for Lady Gaga's "Love Game" and "Paparazzi" nails, and Kimmie Kyees (Katy Perry's and Rihanna's manicurist) are also set to launch their own collections come Spring. Are you excited to check these new Minx collaborations out? Tell us in the comments, and see more of Logan's and Newman's offerings in the gallery below:
OPI Gets on Board With Pirates of the Caribbean-Inspired Polishes
If you love Johnny Depp, bright colors, and dream of vacations in warm climates, then shiver me timbers; you'll certainly love what OPI is releasing next. For Spring 2011 comes the brand's Brights Collection, featuring six limited-edition shades ($8) — and one trendy silver shatter — inspired by Depp's upcoming flick, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. "With shades ranging from sage and lavender to khaki gray and pastel pink, these colors are evocative of a warm, tropical setting, with a classic nautical influence," said OPI's Suzi Weiss-Fischmann. Look for the polishes in stores this May, and be sure to check out the gallery below for a closer look. Which one(s) will you be saying ahoy to, matey?
Crystal Clear: Swarovski to Launch Its First Fragrance
If you could bottle the essence of crystals into liquid form, what do you think it would smell like? That's exactly what the folks from Swarovski and Clarins Fragrance Group set out to do, using the "grace and magnetism of light" and the aura and energy of crystals as inspiration. The brands' new Aura by Swarovski ($68 to $110), a fruity floral, consists of amber, white musk, benzoin resin, lychee, tuberose, and pink pepper. "Aura is the perfect visual expression for the soul of crystal," said Swarovski's Markus Langes-Swarovski.
The juice will be packaged up in a glass tube with — you guessed it — an asymmetric crystal affixed to its metal top. Also available will be a set of crystal-infused, gloss-filled makeup pendants ($74 to $85) for the face, lip, and body. Aura will be available at Selfridges in the UK exclusively on March 3, eventually rolling out to the Americas next year. What do you think of the description of the scent? Does it appeal to your aura?
Wonder Woman Teams Up With MAC, Looks Super

Merciful Minerva! MAC is launching a Wonder Woman cosmetics collection — and judging by this preview, it is going to reach the pinnacle of comic-nerd cool. The tough-as-nails Amazon has inspired a set of bold makeup colors for Diana Prince wannabes, along with Wonder Woman's signature red-and-blue packaging. Expect lip gloss, nail polish, shimmering pigments, and more from this collaboration. (The only thing missing? An invisible jet.) Wonder Woman is one of our favorite fictional feminist icons, so we're looking forward to lassoing these goodies when they hit stores in February. See the whole collection here.
Gleek Out: Glee Nail Polish Hits Stores Next Month

There will also be a mini set of six polishes ($22) that will include the first three shades listed above, as well as three exclusive shades: Celibacy Club, a diamond top coat; Sue Vs Shue, a navy blue; and Express Yourself to Yourself, a coral shimmer. Look for the polishes, along with some Glee-inspired nail appliqués, in Sephora, on the retailer's website, and in Sephora's JCPenney locations. A possible color cosmetics line and fragrance may be in the works, as well. I don't know about you, but I'm feeling pretty Gleeky. Are you feeling similarly gleeful?
Bid on Hello Kitty Beauty, Support a Great Cause
The highly anticipated Hello Kitty Beauty collection will be available at Sephora at the end of the month. To celebrate the launch, Sephora and Sanrio (the makers of Hello Kitty products) are collaborating with eBay for an exclusive auction that includes packages featuring a limited-edition Swarovski brush set, a VIP beauty experience in LA, Honolulu, or NY to meet Hello Kitty designer Yuko Yamaguchi, and more.
Better yet, all proceeds from the auctions will go to Starlight Children's Foundation, an organization that helps children with serious illnesses. The bidding starts Jan. 17, so if you're a Kitty-obsessed auction hunter who wants to do good, mark your calendar.
This Blush Promises to Make You Happier
You've probably seen mood-changing makeup before, but have you ever seen makeup that's formulated to change your mood? Next month, Physicians Formula is launching a heart-shaped mosaic powder and blush made using principles of color therapy, texture therapy, and aromatherapy. Scented with violet to bring on feelings of well-being and Arctic rose to mimic the effects of endorphins, these Happy Booster cosmetics might not replace your therapist, but the cute design will definitely make you smile.
Look How Cute This Denim Makeup Is
With all the different washes, cuts, and styles of jeans available, could denim get any cooler? Answer: when MAC's involved, then yes. On March 3, the always-creative brand (think Venomous Villains) is set to launch the Jeanius collection, a line of products inspired by denim. While other brands, such as Lipstick Queen with its Jean Queen lipstick ($18), and Bobbi Brown, with its Denim and Rose Face Palette ($60), have recently used the classic fabric as inspiration, I have to say that MAC's equivalent is most riveting. While the whole collection includes a selection of your basic lipsticks, glosses, and blushes, it's the eye shadows, stamped with denim "threading" and metallic "rivets," that will undoubtedly sell out in a flash. Can't. Wait.
