Jonathan Antin Gets a Hot New Deal With Conair

You might remember him for his passionate personality in Blow Out, and now celebrity hairstylist Jonathan Antin has a hot new gig in the works.

You might remember him for his passionate personality in Blow Out, and now celebrity hairstylist Jonathan Antin has a hot new gig in the works. He's just been announced as the first professional spokesman for Conair's line of blow dryers, straightening irons, and more.

"I finally connected with a great line of styling tools," Jonathan told WWD. "[Now], when I'm doing hair I'm not just using my hair care line and someone else's tools," he added. Jonathan also has a few other projects in the works, including a new salon, the debut of his new hair care line in September, and the development of two TV programs.

As for Conair, though, there's talk he could eventually launch his own line of products within the brand. I've always found Jonathan to be highly entertaining, and with his feisty manner and entrepreneurial spirit, his collaboration with Conair seems perfectly fitting. What say you about this deal?

The Need For Speed: The Hair Dryer With a Ferrari Engine

Conair's BaByliss Pro has totally pimped its ride — so much so that the engines in the brand's new Volare model (about $400) are made with real Ferrari parts.

Conair's BaByliss Pro has totally pimped its ride — so much so that the engines in the brand's new Volare model (about $400) are made with real Ferrari parts. "The industry has been dominated by advancements in the straightening iron category, and nothing has really been done with blow dryers," BaByliss's David Gardiner told WWD.

Volare is the first dryer to use a ball bearing design, which is especially useful to keep it running nice and smooth. It also has precision insert-molded construction for a lightweight feel and a turbo boost button to make airflow rev up, of course.

While most dryers' lives last 500-700 hours, the Volare runs 2,000 hours. It also packs an impressive 2,200 watts of power. Unfortunately, the dryer, which comes in a compact or medium size, is available for pros only, but if you had the chance, would you like to take it for a test ride?

This Affordable Dryer Has Blown Our Mind (and Our Hair)

The name Conair might produce visions of hot pink mini dryers, but times have changed.

The name Conair might produce visions of hot pink mini dryers, but times have changed. These days, the hair care brand has some truly impressive options. Its line of cute, affordable tiny hair tools, for instance, are wonderful for travel and for touchups at the desk.

Even more noteworthy is the Infiniti Pro Hair Dryer ($35), an 1875-watt tool that dries the hair fast (and I mean fast) because of ionic and ceramic technology. Those features are pretty impressive for a dryer of this price point.

The Infiniti Pro comes with all the standard bells and whistles, like a cold shot button, three heat settings, and two air flow attachments. And while it's not the most tiny or delicate of dryers, it packs a powerful punch. If only it folded for easier storage, I'd say it would be a nearly perfect drugstore option. It also has a nice quiet hum about it. You won't be breaking any noise ordinances — or your bank account — with this one.

Beauty Flashback: Geometricks

Well, you heard it here first: "Smart girls know five heads are better than one."

Well, you heard it here first: "Smart girls know five heads are better than one." However, I'm not sure I want any of these five tools on my one head anytime soon. Even though I can remember testing this with my neighbor (and crimping seems to make a perennial comeback), I want to imagine this product buried away in my parents' garage with Cabbage Patch Kids spiraling My Little Pony's mane or something like that – I'm just gonna zig and zag my smart head away from this angle.
