"So happy to be the new @CoverGirl," shared Sofia Vergara on her Twitter account earlier today. Sofia, one of the stars of Modern Family, is currently shooting her first ad campaign for the beauty brand, for which she also gave a preview on her Facebook page. "I've always had a very good relationship with makeup; it's one of my favorite things," she told People, adding, "I love that I have the Latin flavor; Latin girls can relate to me, see what I'm wearing, see my makeup, my hairstyle."
Sofia joins an impressive list of celebrity spokesmodels who are currently representing the line, including Ellen DeGeneres, Queen Latifah, Drew Barrymore, Dania Ramirez, and Taylor Swift. Expect to see Sofia's CoverGirl advertisements out in January 2012, but until then, tell us what you think of the new collaboration.
Right now, more than 4,000 children die every day because they don't have clean drinking water. So to raise awareness of the issue, Cover Girl is helping Clean things up — in more ways than one. The brand has released animal-print editions of its Clean pressed-powder compact ($7) as it donates $50,000 to nonprofit Children's Safe Drinking Water. For each compact purchased, one week's worth of clean drinking water will be donated to a needy child in countries including Nigeria, Malawi, Sudan, and Kenya. As they say, pretty is as pretty does.
Prior to walking the Kids' Choice Awards red carpet, Sofia Vergara was at a photo shoot that called for sexy, Sophia Loren-inspired makeup. We love finding a good drugstore foundation, so CoverGirl piqued our interest by introducing its new beauty line, NatureLuxe. In this BellaSugarTV segment, check out our review of NatureLuxe Silk Foundation to see if we liked the formula and its wear. And don't miss our earlier review for more.
According to last night's polling, many of you were not loving Jayma Mays's beauty look. Ouch. Orange lipstick is trendy right now, however, and for those of you who are looking for a hot style, this how-to's for you. Created by celebrity makeup artist Beau Nelson, the inspiration behind Jayma's look was a modern-retro feel.
To try the palette yourself, start with CoverGirl's NatureLuxe Silk Foundation ($12). Create a smoky eye by using dark brown shadows, black liner, and plenty of dark mascara. And for that sexy bright pop of orange-red color on the lips, use a sharp lip brush to apply the brand's Lip Perfection lipstick in Flame ($6).
Jenna Ushkowitz was beaming last night at the Golden Globes. Part of it was her sheer excitement, and part was due to the work of celebrity makeup artist Patrick deFontbrune, who used blue eyeliner to complement Jenna's gorgeous blue dress. Find out how to re-create Jenna's easily wearable makeup palette when you keep reading.
It seems like Taylor Swift, the spokeswoman for CoverGirl's new Natureluxe line, has been everywhere these days. And her skin does look pretty amazing in those ads, no? While Taylor is a young 21-year-old, and she has the help of makeup artists and special lighting to give her flawless looking skin, I couldn't help but wonder just how great that new Natureluxe Silk Foundation ($12) really is. To see what I thought, just keep reading.
Hey pilgrim, there might not be as many Thanksgiving beauty offerings as there are December holiday ones, but that doesn't mean you don't have options. Behold, as there are a cornucopia of ideas on how you can add a bit of panache to your Thanksgiving weekend:
- For your hair: Keep your style soft and shiny with Frédéric Fekkai's Apple Cider Clarifying Shampoo ($23). Then, add a dramatic touch with 2adorn's Detachable Brown Feather Hair Clip Fascinator ($35) or Charlotte Russe's Round Feather Headwrap ($6).
- For your lips: Maybelline's Shine Sensational Lip Gloss in Cranberry Crave ($6) or Nyx's Lipstick in Pumpkin Pie ($4) each have holiday-worthy names and look great on practically everyone.
- For the eyes: How about some coffee with that dessert? A smoky, spicy palette of warm browns will provide you with the perfect accent. Try Revlon's ColorStay Eye Shadow in Coffee Bean ($7).
- For the nails: A cranberry-toned shade, such as Butter London's Nail Lacquer in Queen Vic ($14), or a shimmery bronze, such as Deborah Lippmann's Superstar Nail Color ($18), will both garner you lots of attention — in all the right ways, of course.
