Why Katy Perry "Cried With Joy" at a Broadway Show

Katy Perry mixed high fashion with drag queens yesterday in NYC.

Katy Perry mixed high fashion with drag queens yesterday in NYC. She dressed up in a blue Vera Wang gown when she arrived at the 2013 Delete Blood Cancer Gala, and also dropped by a performance of the Tony-nominated musical Kinky Boots on Broadway. Katy, who is a big fan of musicals, tweeted her support for the show after the performance. She said, "Just saw Kinky Boots on Broadway and cried with joy from its powerful, beautiful message." Katy also added, "If Billy Porter doesn't win the Tony for best actor in a musical . . . There will be words . . . Trust." The musical, which was brought to the stage by Cyndi Lauper, earned a whopping 13 Tony nominations earlier this week, more than any other show.

Katy has been having a busy time on the East Coast over the past few days. She attended the White House Correspondent's' Dinner on Saturday in Washington DC and visited Prada's party for The Great Gatsby in the Big Apple on Tuesday. While at the Gatsby bash, Katy hung out with Isla Fisher and chatted with friend Florence Welch.

The Most Dramatic Moments of Fashion Month Spring 2013

Well, that was fun: another Fashion Month has come and gone. Now that we've had time to regroup, it seems like this one was a lot more eventful than seasons past. Certainly a lot of the excitement had to do with the new arrivals at Dior and Saint Laurent, but those weren't the only happenings that caused a stir this month. From the critic who got into public spats with two high-profile designers to the most recognizable accessory of the season, we examine the reasons why the Spring 2013 collections will stick out in our minds for years to come.

You name the color, and at some point or another, pop sensation Cyndi Lauper has probably worn it. She's so unusual, after all. Cyndi turns 58 today, and throughout the years, she has released multiple albums, performed on Broadway, and acted in both movies and TV. Besides her artistic abilities, the star is also active in supporting AIDS research, the National Kidney Foundation, and LGBT rights.

Even as a teenager, Cyndi experimented with coloring her hair different shades and sporting offbeat clothing. Of Cyndi's love for makeup, she said, "On a more frivolous note, makeup is also important to me. I have a suitcase full of the stuff. I am just sorry I have one face to put it all on. If you saw me without makeup you wouldn't recognize me. Thank god."

The amfAR charity managed to get big names to come out in the NYC snow last night for its annual gala. The year's event honored longtime friend of the organization Natasha Richardson, whose mother Vanessa Redgrave posed with her sister Joely Richardson on the red carpet. Joining the women were other stars gearing up for Fashion Week, which starts today, like Mary-Kate Olsen, Ashley Olsen, and Zoe Saldana. Heidi Klum took time off from working on Germany's Next Top Model, while Chloe Sevigny enjoyed her second evening out in a row after Tuesday's party celebrating How to Make It in America's upcoming debut.

The gang was treated to a performance from Lady Gaga, who was back in top form wearing one of her typically eclectic costumes with pearls on her face. Right by Gaga's side was Cyndi Lauper, with both ladies enjoying some fun after their long day of interviews promoting their new lipsticks benefiting MAC's AIDS fund. Meryl Streep also took the stage to address a crowd that included Eliza Dushku and Rick Fox. The party was all about philanthropy, but there were good times to be had for Heidi Klum, Michael Kors, Zoe Kravitz, and Doutzen Kroes.

Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper Launch MAC Viva Glam

When Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper join forces, you know it's going to be something dynamic.

When Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper join forces, you know it's going to be something dynamic. Back in November, I mentioned that the newly tapped Viva Glam spokeswomen would be launching their own lipsticks as part of the MAC AIDS Fund, a charitable organization that helps to support the fight against HIV/AIDS.

Better yet? For each sale of the just-launched Viva Glam Gaga lipstick, a light blue-pink lustre, and Viva Glam Cyndi lipstick, a light coral-red luster ($14 each), every cent will go directly to the fund. And little purchases add up: Through sales of Viva Glam, MAC has raised more than $150 million to fight HIV.

As for what the pretty pair had to say about their new shades, Cyndi revealed in a statement that hers is "a really fabulous red." As for Gaga? She quipped, "It’s very me — a bluish pink, great for everyday, a little bit '80s. I hope that women buy this lipstick, and honor themselves and honor the cause." Will you pucker up?
