The annual FiFi Awards took place earlier this week (see a list of winners here), and during the ceremony, celebrities in attendance had a lot to reveal about what they have coming up next. So popular their fragrances have been, many of them are set to launch their second fragrances in the coming months. To find out who and more — including whose husband is absolutely adorable — just keep reading.
Last night the Fragrance Foundation hosted its annual FiFi Awards in NYC, where manufacturers and celebrities alike were lauded for their excellence in the category of scent. Over 30 crystal statuettes were given out, and among the recipients were stars like Halle Berry and Mary J. Blige. To see exactly which of your favorite brands and celebrities received these top awards, just keep reading.
While stars like Elizabeth Taylor, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Paris Hilton were adding even more fragrances to their celebrity fragrance empires, a new kind of star dominated the market this year: the musician.
This year, Shakira launched S by Shakira ($28), Katy Perry rolled out Katy Perry Purr ($45-$65), Beyoncé Knowles got hot with Beyoncé Heat ($39-$49), Fergie released Outspoken ($28), and Jordin Sparks launched Because of You ($13). Mary J. Blige even set records after selling 50,000 units of her fragrance, My Life ($55), on HSN.
The trend is just getting started, as even more crooners, like Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, and Justin Bieber are set to launch their own celebrity fragrances in the future. Have you tried any of the rocking new scents mentioned above?
The celebrity fragrance mill just keeps turning out sweetly-scented grist every year, and it seems that one of the marks of being a famous woman in Hollywood these days is having your own scent to sell. Not all celebrity fragrances are created equal, though. A ton of scents launched in 2010, some to a much warmer reception than others. From top sellers like Mary J. Blige My Life and Beyoncé Heat to the totally surprising Tilda Swinton perfume, there was plenty of star power to sniff in 2010. Did any of these scents tickle your fancy? Tell us if we've left off a scent you loved by putting it in the comments, too.
When I try perfume, I'm not usually reminded of Stride gum. But in the case of Fergie's new scent, Outspoken ($28), it's a pretty apropos comparison. No, the fragrance doesn't smell like gum, but it does hold on the same way Stride does, solidly smelling the same all day — and it has a similarly pleasant but artificial note profile.
It opens smelling like grape popsicles and then quickly dries down to a soft floral scent with a substantial wood base that stays and stays. It's high quality for its price point, but it's also not the leather and vetiver rock-chick smell it's billed as. It's the kind of scent you wear out dancing—sexy, not too expensive, and still on no matter how sweaty the dance floor gets or how late you stay out.

Made in partnership with Avon, Outspoken is set to be launched next month but we've got your sneak peek into the scent Fergie Ferg deems fab enough to call her own. It features notes of starfruit, iced berry, tuberose, jasmine and base notes of leather and wood. It's a girly, playful scent with a raw, sexy twist that's as intoxicating as it is unexpected — basically, Fergie in a bottle.

Fergie's first fragrance, Outspoken, isn't out from Avon for a few more months — but the buzz is building already. Last week I spoke with a little birdie who's smelled the scent, and her out-and-out rave review makes this sound like a fragrance worth looking into. The scent centers on an iced berry, tuberose, and leather accord, which does sound pretty rocker-chick. According to Fergie, she decided to create the perfume because "I’m always seeking out new ways to express myself, and fragrance is the perfect opportunity to share my originality and confidence with my fans." She's also said that the scent "exudes independence. Outspoken definitely turns heads."
Also turning heads? The just-released ad campaign images, which feature Fergie, a bullhorn, leather, lace, and some bodacious posing. Check the photos out below and tell us: are you interested in taking a sniff?
There's a new Avon lady in town, and she's more rock-and-roll than most. WWD reports that Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie has signed a deal with Avon. She's no stranger to the beauty world, having represented MAC Viva Glam lipstick, but now she'll have her own product to promote.
The most lucrative part of multi-year contract is expected to involve Fergie's fragrance, which will launch next year. While the juice is still being developed, Fergie says that it will be "fresh and alluring." (As opposed to...?) "The vibe for the scent is for the woman who wears it to feel confident and not be afraid to be noticed," she told WWD. No word yet on the name of the fragrance, but I'll guess that its name will be more ladylike than My Humps. Are you excited for this development? And what do you think the name might be?
