While stars like Elizabeth Taylor, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Paris Hilton were adding even more fragrances to their celebrity fragrance empires, a new kind of star dominated the market this year: the musician.

This year, Shakira launched S by Shakira ($28), Katy Perry rolled out Katy Perry Purr ($45-$65), Beyoncé Knowles got hot with Beyoncé Heat ($39-$49), Fergie released Outspoken ($28), and Jordin Sparks launched Because of You ($13). Mary J. Blige even set records after selling 50,000 units of her fragrance, My Life ($55), on HSN.

The trend is just getting started, as even more crooners, like Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, and Justin Bieber are set to launch their own celebrity fragrances in the future. Have you tried any of the rocking new scents mentioned above?

Fergie's Outspoken Should Be Called Outlastin'

When I try perfume, I'm not usually reminded of Stride gum.

When I try perfume, I'm not usually reminded of Stride gum. But in the case of Fergie's new scent, Outspoken ($28), it's a pretty apropos comparison. No, the fragrance doesn't smell like gum, but it does hold on the same way Stride does, solidly smelling the same all day — and it has a similarly pleasant but artificial note profile.

It opens smelling like grape popsicles and then quickly dries down to a soft floral scent with a substantial wood base that stays and stays. It's high quality for its price point, but it's also not the leather and vetiver rock-chick smell it's billed as. It's the kind of scent you wear out dancing—sexy, not too expensive, and still on no matter how sweaty the dance floor gets or how late you stay out.

We're excited to present this article from one of our favorite sites, Daily Makeover!

Fergie has never been the type to keep her opinions quiet, so it's no surprise that the sexy singer's first fragrance, Outspoken, can speak volumes for itself.

Made in partnership with Avon, Outspoken is set to be launched next month but we've got your sneak peek into the scent Fergie Ferg deems fab enough to call her own. It features notes of starfruit, iced berry, tuberose, jasmine and base notes of leather and wood. It's a girly, playful scent with a raw, sexy twist that's as intoxicating as it is unexpected — basically, Fergie in a bottle.

Fergie Gets Lacy For Her Fragrance Campaign

Fergie's first fragrance, Outspoken, isn't out from Avon for a few more months — but the buzz is building already.

Fergie's first fragrance, Outspoken, isn't out from Avon for a few more months — but the buzz is building already. Last week I spoke with a little birdie who's smelled the scent, and her out-and-out rave review makes this sound like a fragrance worth looking into. The scent centers on an iced berry, tuberose, and leather accord, which does sound pretty rocker-chick. According to Fergie, she decided to create the perfume because "I’m always seeking out new ways to express myself, and fragrance is the perfect opportunity to share my originality and confidence with my fans." She's also said that the scent "exudes independence. Outspoken definitely turns heads."

Also turning heads? The just-released ad campaign images, which feature Fergie, a bullhorn, leather, lace, and some bodacious posing. Check the photos out below and tell us: are you interested in taking a sniff?

Fragrance Is About to Get Fergalicious

There's a new Avon lady in town, and she's more rock-and-roll than most.

There's a new Avon lady in town, and she's more rock-and-roll than most. WWD reports that Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie has signed a deal with Avon. She's no stranger to the beauty world, having represented MAC Viva Glam lipstick, but now she'll have her own product to promote.

The most lucrative part of multi-year contract is expected to involve Fergie's fragrance, which will launch next year. While the juice is still being developed, Fergie says that it will be "fresh and alluring." (As opposed to...?) "The vibe for the scent is for the woman who wears it to feel confident and not be afraid to be noticed," she told WWD. No word yet on the name of the fragrance, but I'll guess that its name will be more ladylike than My Humps. Are you excited for this development? And what do you think the name might be?
