A DIY Recipe That Will Give You Sexy Beach Waves in Minutes

Achieving those highly covetable beach waves doesn't mean you have to head to the ocean.

Achieving those highly covetable beach waves doesn't mean you have to head to the ocean. It doesn't mean you have to break out the curling iron or store-bought texturizing spray, either. Save a few pennies with this DIY salt spritz — and stock up on sunscreen with the cash you save. Fabrice Gili, creative director of Frédéric Fekkai SoHo, divulged his quick and easy recipe for carefree waves that requires only three ingredients (all of which you probably have sitting around at home).

  • Step 1: Take an empty and clean spray bottle and fill it up with eight ounces of water.
  • Step 2: Add two heaping tablespoons of kosher or sea salt to the water and shake.
  • Step 3: Mix a teaspoon of your favorite hair gel to the saltwater solution and shake it once again. This will give hair a little bit more texture.
  • Step 4: Spray a liberal amount onto wet or very damp hair and do not brush through; finger-comb only, if necessary. Scrunch hair in your hands to help curls form, or just leave it be and let it air dry naturally.

Get Diane Kruger's Polished Style in Five Quick Steps

Diane Kruger attended the Host premiere last night with a sleek style that was inspired by the runways.

Diane Kruger attended the Host premiere last night with a sleek style that was inspired by the runways. Adir Abergel wanted to create a sophisticated style with lots of shine to complement her black Thakoon dress. Here's how to get her premiere look:

1. Abergel applied Fekkai Full Blown Volume Styling Whip ($25) to damp hair.

2. Then using the arch of the brow as a guide, he created a deep side part.

3. Diane's hair was blown out with a large round brush and tucked behind the ears.

4. To get the two-textured look, Abergel applied Brilliant Glossing Cream ($25) on top of the hair, leaving the ends more voluminous with a spritz of hair spray to finish.

5. Diane's polished hair was accented with starburst earrings and standout lashes.

Eyeliner as Lip Color Lends an Edgy Vibe at 3.1 Phillip Lim

Done up in ruddy-hued lips and strands styled with just a touch of texture, the models at 3.1 Phillip Lim's Fall 2013 show were urban girls with a bit of an edge.

Done up in ruddy-hued lips and strands styled with just a touch of texture, the models at 3.1 Phillip Lim's Fall 2013 show were urban girls with a bit of an edge. And in order to capture that sexy, naughty, dangerous vibe, Frédéric Fekkai lead stylist Paul Hanlon ensured models' hair texture was not too precise. But it was a reddish-brown lip look, conceptualized by makeup artist Francelle Daly for Nars, which really brought this downtown girl notion to life. All that was missing? A rocker boyfriend.

Sexy, Bedhead Braids at Rachel Zoe

Rachel Zoe Spring 2012: Backstage Beauty

For her Spring 2012 presentation, Rachel Zoe, along with Frédéric Fekkai stylist Didier Malige, chose to feature sexy, next-day bedroom hair, taking inspiration from Brigitte Bardot. Think: a morning-after texture that has just the right amount of sultriness. To try the look yourself, start by spritzing on Fekkai Coiff Bouffant Lifting and Texturizing Spray Gel to the roots of next-day hair. Use your fingers while blow-drying to bring out any natural wave you may have. When done, refine some of the wave by using two different-sized curling irons in random sections throughout the hair.

For a down look, braid a few loose braids just underneath the surface of the top layer, stopping about two inches before the ends. For a pulled-back version, loosely braid a ponytail beginning at the nape, allowing most of the ponytail to hang free. Leave a few tendrils out, and finish off with a few spritzes of the brand's Sheer Hold hair spray. Then, all you'll have to do is fight 'em off with a stick.

Check Out This Cool Olfactory Calendar

Here's an elegant idea: a calendar composed of scents.

Here's an elegant idea: a calendar composed of scents. Luxe Paris perfume brand Quintessence has just introduced Le Calendrier Olfactif 2011 ($727), which comes with a wall calendar and a specially designed fragranced candle for each month of the year. Each candle is supposed to reflect the month it stands for, and each was concocted by a different artist, ranging from designers like Azzedine Alaïa to hair master Frédéric Fekkai. It's an absolutely gorgeous concept, though laughably out of my price range. But as a belated holiday gift or a housewarming present, coming up with an olfactory calendar of your own could be a fun and thoughtful gift. If you were making one of these, what would you have different months smell like?
