Take a Magic Carpet Ride With Sephora's Jasmine Collection

Polish up your magic lamp and shake out your flying carpet, because the latest installment in Sephora's Reigning Beauties is just around the corner.

Polish up your magic lamp and shake out your flying carpet, because the latest installment in Sephora's Reigning Beauties is just around the corner. After the ever-popular Cinderella Collection hit shelves in October, it looks like the beauty brand has tapped spunky, adventurous princess Jasmine as its muse du jour.

In this teaser trailer for the collection, Jasmine is seen traipsing around the dessert clad in her signature gauzy fabrics. Her eyes are done in a mesmerizing cat eye, and if the princess's shadow hues are any indication, the collection will feature a bevy of deep blues and decadent golds. Sephora's Jasmine Collection is slated for a March release. Will you be checking it out?

Found: The Absolute Best Hair Serum For Jasmine Fans

Fresh jasmine has a heady, beautiful scent, which is why the flowers are so valued in the fragrance world.

Fresh jasmine has a heady, beautiful scent, which is why the flowers are so valued in the fragrance world. Chanel uses jasmine in Chanel N°5, and the raw floral oil sells for more than $120 an ounce. In other words, it's luxurious stuff — which is why the idea of having jasmine-scented hair feels incomparably fancy. Earlier this week, designer Rachel Roy did just that at the Met Gala, wearing Kesari Indian Oil hair serum ($26.50) in her hair. The newly launched serum is incredibly lightweight, stops frizz, and adds shine when applied before or after a blow-dry. Those are all worthy qualities, but the reason I keep applying it is the scent. Imagine a dozen freshly plucked jasmine flowers sitting in the sun, softly releasing their fragrance. That's exactly it, and that's why this jasmine aficionado will probably finish her bottle by the end of next week.

Lovely Little Vignettes: JolieElise's Jasmine Arch

Here's a post from CasaSugar Community member JolieElise from the Lovely Little Vignettes group: I'm just as likely to create a vignette outdoors and indoors.

Here's a post from CasaSugar Community member JolieElise from the Lovely Little Vignettes group:

I'm just as likely to create a vignette outdoors and indoors. I trained jasmine over the cast-off iron from the bottom of a spiral staircase. When she's in bloom, she's stunning!

I've added the large vase and love the lines here.

Have you created any indoor or outdoor vignettes? Be sure to post photos and tales in the Lovely Little Vignettes group!

Found: A Body Oil For Jasmine Lovers

If you love jasmine, you'll find Fruits & Passion's new Nourishing Dry Oil ($14) completely sweet.

If you love jasmine, you'll find Fruits & Passion's new Nourishing Dry Oil ($14) completely sweet. Its Monoi variety, made with argan and avocado oils, gives skin and hair a soft jasmine scent.

Although it's not exactly a complex perfume, it's pretty and light enough that you won't reek of flowers in the heat. It also soaks in really quickly—I've put on way more than I needed, and it still absorbed in just a couple of minutes. It also didn't make my clothing all oily and sticky, which is a big plus. On hot, humid days, it's the next best thing to sitting in the garden.

Sunday Funday Video: Jasmine Knows Every Trick in the Book

Now I've seen some pretty smart dogs, but Jasmine's skills are out of this world.

Now I've seen some pretty smart dogs, but Jasmine's skills are out of this world. Her tricks keep coming and coming (and coming), from playing cowboys to popping like the weasel, so this pup certainly passes the test! The video should bring a smile to your day and some encouragement to enroll a pooch in special homeschooling when it's done — all you need are time, patience, and some yummy treats to tempt those furry students along.

Product Review: Oscar Blandi Shampoo di Jasmine Smoothing Shampoo

I'm pretty picky about my shampoos.

I'm pretty picky about my shampoos. I tend to stick with ones that help create volume and shine, but I decided to test out this oldie but goodie Jasmine Smoothing Shampoo from Oscar Blandi ($20) based on a recommendation from my friend who has similarly frizz-prone, limp hair.

She told me that it really helped take the fuzz out of the ends, especially in the Summer months when the air contains extra humidity. I've used it twice and what I've discovered is that it has an incredible floral scent (thanks to the jasmine). Also, it most definitely helped smooth out the ends of my hair (thanks to vitamin E) to the point where I didn't even need to add a greasy, silicone-based serum.

The only drawback to having fresh and sweet-smelling, clean hair is the flat after-effect. My hair just kind of hangs by my face if I don't add in product, so I do wind up having to plump it up with an extra shot of volumizing spray. This is definitely something that I'd use every other day when I want to wash and go and not have the hassle of having to spend extra time straightening out frizz.

Glossary

Definition: Jasmine

Jasmine is a vine that breeds white, star-shaped flowers (some varieties are yellow or purple).

Jasmine is a vine that breeds white, star-shaped flowers (some varieties are yellow or purple). They grow from April to September and there are more than 200 known species. The flowers give off a sweet, strong scent popular in women's fragrances, and when pressed, their essential oil can be extracted through an expensive and elaborate process called enflourage.

The highest quality of jasmine is grown in the perfumery capitol of Grasse, France. It also grows naturally in India, China, and Australia. Jasmine is also used in a raw form to balance hormones, treat depression, improve the appearance of stretch marks, and soothe sensitive skin. It is used in tea to calm nerves and to reduce headaches. Additionally, Yasmin (Persian for Jasmine) is a popular name for girls.

Bulgari Strikes Again with Voile de Jasmin

Bulgari has done it again with its second scent launch this season called Voile de Jasmin.

Bulgari has done it again with its second scent launch this season called Voile de Jasmin. This delicate feminine floral fragrance (say that five times fast!) was created to compliment the heavier scent of the original pour Femme fragrance.

It is made from living jasmine sambac, bergamot, orange blossom, rosewood, ylang ylang, mimosa, and rose. The bottle and the packaging are very similar to the first scent that was launched this season, Rose Essentielle. Voile de Jasmin is available only in a 1.7 oz Eau de Parfum spray for $67.

After learning about the strong influence that jasmine has in so many different fragrances from my trip to the Chanel perfume lab in Paris, I am definitely interested in testing out my nose to see if I can detect the strength of the jasmine. Tell me, what's your favorite fragrance ingredient?
