The products really do work—I subbed them for concealer and foundation and got pretty, natural-looking results. I only have two concerns. One, the color correctors are a little too movable and get into the creases under my eyes in no time. And two, they melt quite a bit on my fingers, and I doubt they'd hold up very well in warm or humid weather. Otherwise, though, it's a cute, handy kit for concealing on the go.
Wild 'n' crazy Bella had a wild 'n' crazy Saturday night — at Target. Woot! Isn't having the store practically all to yourself the best? Making my customary beauty aisle pit stop, I was disturbed by what I saw. While I don't mean to nitpick one of my favorite stores, the new designer makeup collection was a big ol' hot mess, as I'm sure you'll agree. To see what I'm talking about, read more
Testers at Target — yes! After popping in the megastore during on a weekend of errand running, I checked out the latest addition to their newly boosted cosmetics section.
Just as Target's GO International line features lower-priced designer fashions, three new collections from top names in the makeup world now line the aisles. Touted as more affordable than the fancy designer counterparts, the designers include JK Jemma Kidd ($14–$36), Napoleon Perdis' NP Set ($12—$30), and Pixi Cosmetics' Pixi ($12—$39).
I'm all for one-stop shopping and bringing designers to the masses. But in this rough economy, will shoppers pay 17 bucks for mascara at Target? To see all of the loot, read more
Coming this August to a Target store near you are three, more affordable versions of designer cosmetics collections by Jemma Kidd, Pixi Cosmetics, and Napoleon Perdis. The reason for the push, according to consultant Allan Mottus, is that "Target is not doing well in mass beauty." Aside from Sonia Kashuk, a brand that they have a financial relationship with, the beauty department is not being properly maintained.
Prepare yourself to see TV, print, and online ads promoting the new brands along with in-store testers to encourage shopper interaction with the products. Each of the brands have modified their collections for the mass appeal, however they claim to remain similar to the coveted designer products.
- Jemma Kidd's line, JK Jemma Kidd has a heavy fashion inspiration with products ranging from $14 to $36.
- Napoleon Perdis' line, NP Set will consist of 85 products housed in white packaging with the phrase "What's in it for me?"
- Pixi Cosmetics' line, Pixi by Petra (Petra is the name of one of the founding sisters) stands by its good-for-your-skin angle and will sell products ranging in price from $12 to $39.
Eyebrow maintenance has never been so easy. Thanks to multi-pan palettes you can even change the color of your hair and still keep the same products. As I was web-surfing late last night, I came upon these brow kits that are equipped with mini tweezers. I've already shown you some of my favorites from the past, but here are a few newcomers I think you'll also enjoy checking out.
Jemma Kidd Brow & Eye Kit ($50) contains a small set of tweezers, an angled eyebrow brush and three versatile colors, which you can also use as eye shadows. I'm interested in seeing what this looks like in person because the light shade seems like it might not do much besides highlight your brow bone.
Le Sourcil de Chanel ($46.60) is a brow shaping kit that allows you to color, shape and groom your brows, even on the go. It comes packaged with three powder shades, an applicator, a mini set of tweezers, a mini brush for blending and the mirror inside the compact is even magnified. I wonder just how magnified it is — those vanity mirrors always get me into trouble!
Now you can add Jemma Kidd's Semi-Permanent, Waterproof Eye Lash Color ($28.50) to the wide world of makeup stains. But unlike lip and cheek stains, this one is for your eyelashes. What's more, it's waterproof.
The semipermanent dye is lightweight and promises not to smudge, flake, or feather for 24 hours. It goes on like a mascara, and you should let it dry for a few moments before applying a second coat. One thing to be careful of: Don't let any product touch your skin or else it will stain your face — yuck.
To remove, just wet a cotton ball or Q-tip with an oil-based eye makeup remover and wipe along your lashes so that the color gets lifted away at the root. Lasting Tint is available in black only, but if it takes off, who knows what colors could come up?

I am such a two-in-one product fan that I've decided to create a brand new feature all about dynamic duo's called What A Pair. It's no wonder that when I saw this Plumping Lip Balm & Long-Lasting Color Duo from Jemma Kidd I went totally bananas.
This creamy double-sided stick contains a moisturizing lip balm on one side and a creamy lipstick on the other—all for $20. C'mon, that's not a bad value considering that you're getting two designer lip products out of the deal.
Also, you can create two different looks with this darling duo. For a sheer lip, apply the lip balm side to prime lips and then blot with a tissue before swiping on the lipstick. Or, for more intense color, skip the balm altogether and just apply two coats of the plumping lipstick.
It currently comes in ten different shades all with sexy female names like Brigitte, Cleopatra and Scarlette (I guess we know where the inspiration came from)!
