While stars like Elizabeth Taylor, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Paris Hilton were adding even more fragrances to their celebrity fragrance empires, a new kind of star dominated the market this year: the musician.

This year, Shakira launched S by Shakira ($28), Katy Perry rolled out Katy Perry Purr ($45-$65), Beyoncé Knowles got hot with Beyoncé Heat ($39-$49), Fergie released Outspoken ($28), and Jordin Sparks launched Because of You ($13). Mary J. Blige even set records after selling 50,000 units of her fragrance, My Life ($55), on HSN.

The trend is just getting started, as even more crooners, like Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, and Justin Bieber are set to launch their own celebrity fragrances in the future. Have you tried any of the rocking new scents mentioned above?

The celebrity fragrance mill just keeps turning out sweetly-scented grist every year, and it seems that one of the marks of being a famous woman in Hollywood these days is having your own scent to sell.

The celebrity fragrance mill just keeps turning out sweetly-scented grist every year, and it seems that one of the marks of being a famous woman in Hollywood these days is having your own scent to sell. Not all celebrity fragrances are created equal, though. A ton of scents launched in 2010, some to a much warmer reception than others. From top sellers like Mary J. Blige My Life and Beyoncé Heat to the totally surprising Tilda Swinton perfume, there was plenty of star power to sniff in 2010. Did any of these scents tickle your fancy? Jordin Sparks Launches a Very Idol Perfume

If an American Idol winner were to release a celebrity fragrance called Because of You, it would be logical to conclude that the singer in question was Kelly Clarkson.

If an American Idol winner were to release a celebrity fragrance called Because of You, it would be logical to conclude that the singer in question was Kelly Clarkson. Not so, though, because next week Jordin Sparks will be launching a scent with that very moniker.

Jordin says the scent isn't named for her fellow Idol's hit song, but instead came about because "my fans are the reason that I get to do any of this . . . [they] deserve a high-quality, reasonably priced scent." She chose the name, she says, to show how much she appreciates them. Because of You is certainly reasonably priced (it'll launch at $9.50 a bottle) and sounds like a young scent appropriate for Jordin's fans — it's described as a "fruity floriental" with notes of orange, currant, nectarine, orchid, peony, musk, vanilla, and an amber/woodsy base. Given how low its price point is, will you be interested in giving it a sniff?
