Zooey Deschanel has made a name for herself in the nail art world, and it's all thanks to celebrity nail technician Tom Bachik, who has also created red carpet nail designs for Jennifer Lopez and Anne Hathaway, too. We sat down with Bachik to discuss the upcoming trends of the season, and he even spills his tips on getting red-carpet-worthy manicures without spending your afternoon at the salon. On Kirbie: Bebe dress.

With all the options out there, it can be daunting to pick the best one for you, but we break down which you'll use on a daily basis: a primer, a concealer, and a powder. On Kirbie: Kate Spade top.
When it comes to manicure tricks, L’Oréal Paris Global Nail Artist Tom Bachik has plenty — as he should, since he's always adorning celebrities like Anne Hathaway and Jennifer Lopez with gorgeous manicures. Whether it's elongating short nails or salvaging thin, brittle nails, he has an answer. Plus, he dishes on why gel manicures are actually good for your nails. On Kirbie Johnson: Bebe dress.
Soon, Project Runway fans will have one more way to make it work. The dueling-designers show has inspired Colors Take Flight, a limited-edition makeup collection by L'Oréal Paris. Makeup artist Collier Strong, who you've probably seen on the show, loaned his expertise to create four distinct color palettes with lipstick, nail polish, blush, and lip color. The collection lands in stores this October, so mark your calendars. Judging by how on trend these hues are for Fall, they'll be "auf" shelves before you know it.
Model Inès de la Fressange was one of Karl Lagerfeld's most iconic muses, but these days she's taking on a job with much wider exposure: acting as the newest spokeswoman for L'Oréal. Fifty-three-year-old Inès certainly seems like a solid choice for L'Oréal, and it's nice to see the company expand its roster of mature spokeswomen. In a world full of spokesmodels hawking anti-wrinkle creams when they're barely out of their teens, there's some comfort for me in seeing an actual adult making the sales pitch. Would you like to see more mature spokespeople, or just greater age variance in general?
Want to score some serious A-list style? One lucky winner will get this to-die-for compact — the same exclusive Carelle design that L’Oréal Paris gave Natalie Portman and the other actresses nominated for Screen Actors Guild awards. Worth $3,200, the diamond-encrusted mirrored compact showcases a brilliant shooting star, brightly colored smoky quartz gemstones, and orange sapphires set in complementary 18kt yellow gold-plated sterling silver. What's more, the winner will also receive a package brimming with the latest product launches from L'Oréal Paris. Talk about gorgeous.
To enter, all you have to do is "like" BellaSugar's Facebook page and comment on our Facebook wall, telling us about your favorite red-carpet beauty look. But hurry — the contest ends today at 5 pm PST. Here are the official rules. Good luck!
L'Oréal Paris makeup artist Mary Phillips wanted to give Jennifer Lopez's makeup a glamorous vintage feel for the Golden Globes. For Jennifer's eyes, Mary first applied a thick wash of metallic silver eye shadow from lash line to just above her crease, followed up with black liquid eyeliner on her lash lines and three coats of L'Oréal Paris Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara in Blackest Black ($8). For Jennifer's peachy-nude lips, Mary applied L'Oréal Paris Infallible Le Rouge in Perpetual Peach ($10).
After she was conspicuously absent from its latest commercials, rumors were swirling that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Bollywood's long-reigning queen, was on the verge of being dropped from her extensive contract with L'Oreal in favor of the company's equally lovely brand ambassador Freida Pinto. Today, however, L'Oreal issued a strong denial calling the rumors "absolutely untrue" and stating that Aish was just "unfortunately unavailable for our New Year commercial shoot due to prior commitments." The company reiterated that Aishwarya will continue to be the face of many of the cosmetic giant's brands globally and in India.
The whole rumor sounds like it was designed to start trouble between Aishwarya and Freida — although it's really rather silly to suggest that there's not room for both of them at L'Oreal — but do you think there may be something else going on?
Jennifer Lopez is leveraging her sleek hair and perfect skin to become a global brand ambassador for L'Oreal. The singer/actress/designer just inked a multiyear, multimillion dollar contract with the company to represent a number of its lines, starting with ads for EverSleek hair care products in 2011.
Jennifer promises that her campaign will be different from the average spokesmodel's, saying, "How you look and feel is very important to how you portray something. So what I wear and how the hair and makeup is and how I move and choose to move in the campaign says a lot for the product and what we are trying to portray." Given how successful her never-ending line of fragrances has been, La Lopez is clearly a good business bet. But do you think Jennifer and L'Oreal are a good pairing?
