Reader Review of the Day: The Body Shop Lip and Cheek Stain

Reader Fashion_doll24 thinks that The Body Shop's Lip and Cheek Stain ($14) is a purse essential.

Reader Fashion_doll24 thinks that The Body Shop's Lip and Cheek Stain ($14) is a purse essential. Formulated for all skin tones, this multitasking gel formula gives a wash of color to cheeks and lips. Take it away, Fashion_doll24:

I'm a big fan of this stain, mainly because I'm not good at finding the right shade of lip gloss for my complexion, and this is definitely a case of "one shade fits all." Also, I like the fact that your lips don't feel sticky as they will when using a gloss. I rarely use it on my cheeks, not because the color is off or anything but because I prefer a powder blush.

What's Your Favorite Type of Lip Product?

I've learned that an astounding number of you prefer to use powder blush over cream blush, mineral blushes or cheek stains, and now I want to know about your love of lip products.

I've learned that an astounding number of you prefer to use powder blush over cream blush, mineral blushes or cheek stains, and now I want to know about your love of lip products. When I'm heading out the door, my go-to lip product is usually a neutral, shimmery lip gloss. Do you also reach for a gloss or are you more of a tinted or a plain lip balm, lipstick or lip stain kind of gal?

Trend Alert: Blackberry Lips

As we know, berry lips are a great away to add a touch of bright color to any Winter look.

As we know, berry lips are a great away to add a touch of bright color to any Winter look. From the sneak peek at the Bobbi Brown Raspberry Collection, it looks like berries are going to get even darker — yet more sheer — for Spring 2008. Here are three great blackberry lip shades that also happen to complement the dark-purple nail trend.

Nars Lip Gloss in Revolt ($23) is a sheer, deep-blackberry shade that provides lots of shine and creamy color to your lips. This shade looks a lot like a stain if worn alone, and it creates depth and vibrancy to amethyst or lilac lipsticks worn underneath.

Trend Alert: Berry Delicious Winter Lips

How "berry" appropriate that makeup in the winter months turns to shades of reds, golds and berries to create warmth and depth.

How "berry" appropriate that makeup in the winter months turns to shades of reds, golds and berries to create warmth and depth. Sheer berries are a great way to incorporate a hint of bright color into your look since they are softer than red lipsticks and bright pink lipsticks. You can also dab a bit on your your cheeks for a fresh and natural-looking flush. Here are a couple of great sheer, berry stain shades I think you'll love.

Sephora Lip Attitude - Chic in Talented Berry ($12) is a sheer, glossy, moist and creamy lipstick that can either be worn alone or over your favorite lipstick to add shine. Also, it's got a great sweet smell that keeps calling you back for re-application. This is the only lipstick I think I've ever fully finished!

Bellissima! Clinique's Black Honey Has Three New Sister Shades

Although this lipstick range is part of the Fall 2007 Play In The Darks collection by Clinique, that I told you about in late July, these three new shades of Almost Lipstick struck a chord when I realized that they are renditions of the ever-popular cult favorite Black Honey Almost Lipstick.

Although this lipstick range is part of the Fall 2007 Play In The Darks collection by Clinique, that I told you about in late July, these three new shades of Almost Lipstick struck a chord when I realized that they are renditions of the ever-popular cult favorite Black Honey Almost Lipstick. At first I thought there was just one new version out called Black Plum, but I have recently learned about two more shades in Black Raspberry (bright, sheer pink) and Black Raisin (deep wine).

There's a reason I am so excited. These aren't just any lipsticks, they could arguably be some of the best lipsticks ever created. They look intimidatingly dark in the tube, but they glide on smooth and the result is a shiny, sheer and clean stain-like finish.

The shades are universally flattering (I swear, they really are) and one of these skinny tubes is packed with color that will last you a long, long time. Each of the colors are sold separately for $14. How do you feel about these new versions of Black Honey being added to the elite Almost Lipstick sisterhood?

Product Review: NARS Lip Gloss/Lip Stain Duo

For the Holiday 2007 season, Nars launched its beautiful Siren Song Collection.

For the Holiday 2007 season, Nars launched its beautiful Siren Song Collection. I've been a busy bee creating different looks with all of the colors, but the one product I just can't seem to make friends with is the Lip Gloss/Lip Stain Gloss Duos.

I'm a lover of most makeup pairs because of their great value, and I certainly haven't met a Nars product that I didn't like, but my experience with the Indian Red Lip Stain side of my duo was a colossal disaster. While one side is your typical thick and sticky gloss, the other side has a drastically different consistency and frankly, I just don't understand it.

It's very liquid and slick, and you only need a small amount for full coverage. Don't make the same mistake I did and slather it on (it's a dirty little trick since it's got the same applicator as a gloss), because this milky lip stain spreads like wildfire. Having said all of this, please keep in mind that on the whole, I am not a huge fan of lip stains, so the richness of this product definitely plays a role in my opinion. Doing Drugstore: Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain

The lovely GiggleSugar is just gaga over Revlon's Just Bitten lip stain.

The lovely GiggleSugar is just gaga over Revlon's Just Bitten lip stain. "Try it," she told me. "It's amazing." Well, it turns out she wasn't joking for once!

Just Bitten is available in four reddish tints, but I followed Giggle's lead and tried it in Berry Juicy. It has a light fruity fragrance, and though it's a little too "fake fruity" for me, the scent is not overpowering. The consistency is just like water, but the roller ball controls how much comes out; I found that just a little swipe covered my lips completely, giving them a sheer wash of red.
