Before and After: Bench Revival

I get all giddy when I stumble upon a piece of furniture that screams for an easy makeover, which is why I fell in love with this tired little bench.

I get all giddy when I stumble upon a piece of furniture that screams for an easy makeover, which is why I fell in love with this tired little bench. The small seat was attractive enough, but I mulled over what I wanted to do with it until the right fabric struck me. And eventually, it did. After a fresh coat of paint and a cheery cover, this little bench found a new life in a little girl's room I've been working on for a while. The problem is I like it so much that I kinda want it back!

Topshop's New Virtual Makeup Counter Is Way Fun

In case you hadn't heard, Topshop has recently launched its own makeup line, and with it a virtual makeup application that lets you try on the brand's various shades.

In case you hadn't heard, Topshop has recently launched its own makeup line, and with it a virtual makeup application that lets you try on the brand's various shades. Its Rio Rio lipstick ($16) is a perfect primary red and one of my favorites for this season, and the cream blushes are gorgeous.

I was pretty excited to use the app and see what else it has, and for whatever reason, trying on virtual makeup of any kind always seems rather addictive. I'm not sure that an actual bottle of Topshop's concealer would make me look like I have absolutely no darkness under my eyes, but I can attest to the fact that the lipstick, blush, and eyeliner I'm "wearing" are indeed those colors in real life. It's fun, a lot more subtle and realistic-looking than other "makeover" sites, and a great way to check out the line if there's no Topshop close by.

Have You Ever Reinvented Yourself After Moving to a New Place?

On last night's season premiere of The Hills, Heidi Montag took her new face to her Colorado hometown, where her mother was taken aback, to say the least.

On last night's season premiere of The Hills, Heidi Montag took her new face to her Colorado hometown, where her mother was taken aback, to say the least. More than anything, she seemed sad that her once-confident daughter had changed after moving to LA. Heidi insisted that living in LA influenced her decision to finally "fix who I was."

Though Heidi's makeover is undoubtedly extreme, many people use moving to a new town or going off to college as an excuse for a makeover. Often, it's easier to try out a new look or style when you're around a new group of people, rather than the family and friends who've known you your whole life. Have you ever given yourself a post-move makeover?

Do You Brake For Beauty Mobiles?

Yesterday while hitting up the food court for lunch, I passed by a Bare Escentuals makeup station on wheels parked right outside of Sugar HQ.

Yesterday while hitting up the food court for lunch, I passed by a Bare Escentuals makeup station on wheels parked right outside of Sugar HQ. While I didn't have time for a "makeunder," I couldn't help but check it out. I also couldn't help but wonder if girl at the counter's use of the term makeunder meant that I was in dire need to tone down my look, or if it was simply BE lingo used as a nod to the brand's natural-looking aesthetic. (I'm guessing the latter.) How about you? Whether it's a mobile salon or a skincare station to-go, do you break for beauty mobiles?
