Minx is known for pushing boundaries and coming out with some of the most stunning shapes and patterns around, but their appliques for avant garde designer Charlie Le Mindu's show are delightfully outrageous. To see them up close and find out what it takes to wear them yourself, just keep reading.
Ice Cream Inspires Minx Manicures at Fashion Week
Ice cream and manicures might not seem like a natural pairing, but they were just that at yesterday's Independent Fashion Bloggers Conference in New York. Dozens of style bloggers (including yours truly) were treated to manicures inspired by the brown and black colors of Magnum ice cream. Nail guru Lisa Logan, who's decorated the digits of stars like Beyoncé and Eve, had nearly run through her supply of patterned Minx. Why was the crowd melting for the look, we wondered? "People like something different and fun for Fashion Week," she said of her fish-scale design customized with Magnum's colors. "And let's face it, people like ice cream, too." Can't argue with that.
Check Out the Awesome New Minx For Marc Jacobs Nails
Perhaps, you didn't know that Minx and Marc Jacobs were acquainted, but now they've gone and had a One Night Stand. The nail applique innovator and the fashion savant have teamed up on a limited-edition series of stick-ons named after the most heated and transient kind of tryst. Using prints from the Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall 2011 collection, Minx made five cool patterns with everything from metallic panthers to big, colorful flowers.
Unfortunately, quantities are very limited; you'll only be able to get them (as a gift with purchase) at Saks Fifth Avenue during Fashion's Night Out. Let's just hope there are more fun designer collaborations like this in the pipeline — and that they'll be available to fashion lovers everywhere.
Glitzy Lips Are Like Minx For Your Mouth
If you're obsessed with Minxed nails, you'll be very excited about new Glitzy Lips, "Minx for your lips" foil appliques created by Athena Elliott of Minx Houston, who does the nails of stars like Keri Hilson and Estelle. We got to try out the RainbowDar pattern ($30), and the results were pretty cool. However, putting them on isn't easy, so we've got some tips, along with what you need to know before you try them.
Minx Launches New Celebrity Manicurist-Designed Collections

You've probably admired the nails of stars like Beyoncé Knowles, Lady Gaga, and Rihanna, and here's your chance to get in on the action. Minx has just launched a new professional line of celebrity manicurist-designed nail art ($5 to $10 above traditional Minx manicures). Last month, manicurist Lisa Logan, who has decorated the nails of stars like Beyoncé and Mary J. Blige, debuted her own Minx collection, which features eight colorful, geometric designs. And this week, Marian Newman, who has worked with brands like Givenchy and Vivienne Westwood, is set to release her own line, where chromes and graduated colors are the focal points in her eight-piece collection.
That's not all. Naja Rickette, the person responsible for Lady Gaga's "Love Game" and "Paparazzi" nails, and Kimmie Kyees (Katy Perry's and Rihanna's manicurist) are also set to launch their own collections come Spring. Are you excited to check these new Minx collaborations out? Tell us in the comments, and see more of Logan's and Newman's offerings in the gallery below:
Check Out Vanessa Hudgens's Crazy Manicure
Vanessa Hudgens celebrated her birthday over the weekend with plenty of food, a night at the club, and this artistic manicure, which incorporated holographic Minxing, gold, and matte black polish. I like its abstract quality, and the black polish looks almost like encaustic wax-based paint. This seems like a relatively easy way to create statement nails, but I can also see it getting messy. Would you try something like this, or is it best left on the hands of starlets?

We Test-Drive Sephora's Halloween Minx Manicures
I've tried Sephora's Minx collaboration nail foils before, but now they're back and redesigned for Halloween. I really loved the perfect stars and night sky pattern set (although the skull and crossbones look cool, too), so I scooped them up and brought them back to Sugar HQ to try. Turns out they're a vast improvement over Sephora's initial batch of foils, so I'm really glad I gave them another try. To see the tricks I learned the second time around, just read on.
We Test Drive the At-Home Minx Manicure

Enter Chic Prints for Nails ($15), a collaboration between OPI, Sephora, and Minx. The one-use foil nails promise a lot of shine for much less money than a salon manicure. How did it work? To find out, keep reading.
Have You Tried a Minx Manicure?
Minx manicures, the metallic-colored professional-only nail wraps, are becoming more popular thanks to celebrities like Rihanna, Beyoncé, and Kelly Clarkson. Most recently, at an LA Lakers game, Hayden Panettiere wore a gold foil manicure. Seeing her auriferous manicure got me to thinking that perhaps I should try my hand at sporting some Minx, and according to the brand's website, the nearest salon is a just a mere .2 miles away from my apartment. What about you? Have you tried — or do you plan on trying — a fashionable Minx mani?
