Nicole Richie's Met Gala look proves that even when she's borrowing from the past, she puts an unexpected spin on it. Her Jason Wu dress had a slightly vintage feel, making her '40s-style hair and makeup look all the more glamorous. Makeup artist Eric Polito previewed Nars Larger Than Life long-wear eyeliner on Nicole, blending the fine-point liners in Rue de Rivoli and Via Veneto. They'll be well worth tracking down when they launch this Fall — trust us, we saw them at Fashion Week and they're spectacular — but for now, you can achieve a similar look with a shimmery army green eye shadow like Nars Fuji, along with a black eyeliner pencil. For that classic red lip, Nicole wore Nars Terre de Feu Pure Matte lipstick. As the name suggests, a matte shade is key. For the appearance of a fuller lip, draw the lipstick slightly over the natural shape of the lips — if you dare.
When channeling old-school glamour, a velvety red lip color (along with Veronica Lake waves) is the way to go, and here we have Nicole Richie doing all that and more. Sporting a long, off-white vintage frock with cutout sleeves, Nicole accentuates her ensemble with a black clutch and metallic shoes. How are you feeling about Nicole's throwback look?
