We had fun with OPI's Katy Perry black shatter polish, so we're excited to see that the brand is now releasing three new "shattered" shades. In addition to the black, white, red, and silver colors currently available, OPI will add navy blue, turquoise, and primary blue to the lineup in May. We'll be interested to see how a bright, standout color like turquoise looks with the finish, but do you think you'd be interested in giving the new colors a go?
Celeb Style: Olivia Palermo
The always style-savvy Olivia Palermo graced London Fashion Week's front rows in a plethora of fantastic outfits, one of which is this simple, sophisticated look that she wore while attending the Emilio de la Morena show. She wore a rust-colored silk blouse, sleek black leather pants, and her beloved leopard ankle booties. She accessorized with a bold, gold rose ring and the new Mulberry Oversized Tillie handbag, which you can buy here. Click the items above to shop similar pieces!
OPI Gets on Board With Pirates of the Caribbean-Inspired Polishes
If you love Johnny Depp, bright colors, and dream of vacations in warm climates, then shiver me timbers; you'll certainly love what OPI is releasing next. For Spring 2011 comes the brand's Brights Collection, featuring six limited-edition shades ($8) — and one trendy silver shatter — inspired by Depp's upcoming flick, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. "With shades ranging from sage and lavender to khaki gray and pastel pink, these colors are evocative of a warm, tropical setting, with a classic nautical influence," said OPI's Suzi Weiss-Fischmann. Look for the polishes in stores this May, and be sure to check out the gallery below for a closer look. Which one(s) will you be saying ahoy to, matey?
Messing With OPI's New Texas Nail Polish Collection
With names like Houston We Have a Purple and It's Totally Fort Worth It, OPI's new Spring/Summer 2011 collection, dubbed Texas, will put a smile on your face. The Texas collection features 12 new shades, including six seasonally-perfect sorbet-toned hues. I tested Big Hair...Big Nails ($9), an orange-pink almost exactly the same hue as my favorite Crayola shade from childhood, Shocking Pink. To see what I thought, just keep reading.
Katy Perry's New Polish: Don't Judge a Bottle by Its Color

Back in October, we found out that Katy Perry would be coming out with her own line of OPI nail polishes, and now they're here. Yesterday Team Bella sampled all six shades in the collection, including the color pictured here, Last Friday Night ($7, but prices will vary depending on retailer).
While it's described as a bold cobalt blue with iridescent glitter, the result was more of a light pastel blue with flecks of cool-toned glitter — and that was with three coats. This further proves that judging a bottle by its color is never the best determiner of the true results. Last Friday Night is still a cool shade, especially as a top coat, but don't expect this particular hue to pack as much punch as the electric-blue wig Katy wore to the MTV Movie Awards last year.
Biggest Headlines of 2010: Beauty Goes Shopping
In the business world, mergers and acquisitions are the norm, and this year, some pretty big beauty deals took place. Perhaps the biggest shopping spree, however, was done by none other than Coty, who acquired big-time brands like OPI and Philosophy, along with lesser-known brands Dr. Scheller Cosmetics and TJoy. And while Coty already holds the Calvin Klein fragrance license, the company recently acquired a Calvin Klein color cosmetics license, too.
Other major deals included Estée Lauder's purchase of Smashbox, Shiseido's acquisition of Bare Escentuals, and Unilever's acquirement of Alberto-Culver, the makers of brands such as Nexxus, Tresemmé, VO5, and St. Ives. L'Oréal purchased Essie, and there was even some talk of the beauty juggernaut purchasing Avon. Speaking Avon, they acquired British skincare company Liz Earle earlier this year. With Coty's growth exploding at the seams, it will be interesting to see what they, along with the other big beauty players, have planned for 2011.
Get Glitzy Red Nails For the Holidays

Here's an excerpt of a post by OnSugar blog LesleyKat on getting a sparkly holiday manicure:
As most of you know, I am abso-obsessed with all flakie polish. It's such a cool effect and adds so much dimension to your nails. When I was given Barielle Elle's Spell, I totally squealed. Red flakies are perfection for the holidays. Unfortunately, this polish doesn't do so well on its own, so I think layering is a must. I chose to go with a red-on-red. However, the red flakies would probably look KILLER on top of gold, silver, or white. Who knows, it could even elevate a rich chocolate brown color to the next level.

Learn This All-That-Glitters-Is-Gold Manicure
Here's an excerpt of a post by OnSugar blog LesleyKat on getting a sparkly holiday manicure:
May I present to you a holiday nail suggestion: glitter-tipped gold. To create this look, I used Sephora by OPI Charge It! ($9) as my base color. Two coats give a nice opaque, metallic finish. After letting them dry for a few minutes, I then applied a dab of clear (glitter polish would work well too) and dipped the tips of the nails right into the glitter. The glitter I used was LA Splash Lady Luck ($7). This glitter is especially cool because it has small glitter pieces as well as larger ones, and it reflects golds, pinks, and greens.

You Can Smell Like Your Favorite Cocktail
After a long week at work, most of us welcome a good, stiff drink, but what about all those days in between, when boozing isn't exactly appropriate? Well, cosmetics and body care products may not have exactly the same effects as alcohol, but you can at least smell like your favorite adult beverage. The Malin + Goetz Mojito Soap Set ($30) will get you nice and lime-minty fresh, while Philosophy's Senorita Margarita 3-in-1 Gel ($16) is as sweet and bright as the real thing. If your taste is more the sophisticated martini type, you could spritz on Apothia Velvet Rope Eau de Parfum ($35). But if you'd rather not smell like a cocktail at all, then there's a great alternative: OPI Nail Lacquer in Paint My Moji-Toes Red ($8).
