Take Turquoise Polish Up a Notch With This Easy Nail-Art Idea

With all the new makeup launches, it's pretty clear that turquoise nail polish is the must-have shade for Spring and Summer.

With all the new makeup launches, it's pretty clear that turquoise nail polish is the must-have shade for Spring and Summer. Not only does this blue-green color pop against springtime pastels, but also, it looks even cooler set against a golden sparkle.

For this mermaid-inspired look, I used the teal-hued Paul & Joe Nail Enamel in Caribbean ($14), along with the gold-glittered Deborah Lippmann Boom Boom Pow ($20). Start off with a base coat like Butter London Nail Foundation ($19), and then swipe on two coats of the turquoise polish. Next, dab the gold glitter polish on the base of the nail to create a gradient effect. Once you have your desired look, seal everything with a top coat like Essie Good to Go ($10) for fast-drying shine. Even if you're not soaking up some sun at the beach, one glance at your nails will take you there.

Her go-to Rag & Bone booties ($495), round tortoise sunglasses, and brown woven bag completed her bohemian style. Katie reminds us that embroidered tunics are the perfect way to stay cool and chic this Summer. You can wear them with jeans, like Katie did, or you can throw them on over your bikini and denim cutoffs at the beach. Then later, you can match them with minishorts and heels for a punchy night out. To get Katie's look, including her exact booties, shop the widget below.

Pantone's 2011 Color of the Year Is Honeysuckle

It's that time again.

It's that time again. The color experts at Pantone have announced their color of the year. For 2010, it was all about turquoise, and we saw the blue-green hue everywhere from celebrity eyeliner looks to department store palettes to MAC's dazzling Alice and Olivia collaboration. And for 2011, the color is honeysuckle. The reddish-pink shade provides a nice healthy glow to the skin and is said to be alluring, engaging, and uplifting. "In times of stress, we need something to lift our spirits. Honeysuckle is a captivating, stimulating color that gets the adrenaline going – perfect to ward off the blues," said Pantone's Leatrice Eiseman. Sounds good to me. Check out a few enlightening beauty options featuring the shade below:

Cat Power: Why Kitties Are the Big Beauty Trend

After years of being mocked, cat ladies may have the last laugh — at least when it comes to the beauty world.

After years of being mocked, cat ladies may have the last laugh — at least when it comes to the beauty world. Cutesy kitties popped up on Miu Miu's spring 2010 runway, and now they're heading to your makeup bag. Paul & Joe have limited-edition cat-head lipsticks, while MAC's newest collection is inspired by Burmese and Russian Blue cats. Then again, Stila's always had a hit with Kitten, its shimmery pink cult-fave eye shadow. Feeling feline? Click the photos to check out some of the catty offerings.

Cute or Creepy? Paul & Joe's Cat Lipsticks

Upon first glance you'll probably notice that Paul & Joe Beauté's forthcoming lipsticks are encased with soft, feminine designs.

Upon first glance you'll probably notice that Paul & Joe Beauté's forthcoming lipsticks are encased with soft, feminine designs. But upon second glance, you'll notice that the lipsticks themselves are etched out to form the faces of kittens.

If you're a longtime reader, you'll know I love cats (a lot), but this design is weirding me out. There's plenty to like about kittens, but this feline face would make me feel like I was being watched by Ceiling Cat. Does this unique approach to cosmetics have you squealing with glee, or are you similarly disturbed?

While out shopping, Emily Blunt brought a pop of color with her red flats to an otherwise more somber ensemble. She clearly did some damage at Lisa Kline, but I'm sure what's she's wearing is just as cute as what's in the bag. The plaid tunic is perfectly on-trend, as are her leather accessories. Paul & Joe Pretties Things Up For Cat Ladies

As you may know, I'm a bit of a cat lady.

As you may know, I'm a bit of a cat lady. (Have you met Milo and Minou?) So it's no surprise that I'm hoping dear ol' Santy Claws will bring me this Paul & Joe holiday face kit. Available in two shades, it features a sheer lipstick and swirly cheek color. But the real attraction is this achingly twee little printed makeup pouch. It's so ridiculously girlish and over-the-top that it somehow becomes slightly subversive. Paired with sleek skinny jeans and a slim black tee, it would be a little sweet, a little tough — kinda like one pretty kitty.

Paul & Joe Beauté is hard to find, though it's stocked in Anthropologie. If you see this kitty kit, I wouldn't blame you if you were to pounce on it...
